    Gen 4 body interchange??

Hey guys. Long time, no post. I recently acquired a friends 65 f100, short flareside, 2wd, 240, 3 on the tree. It's kind of a family truck, with a fair amount of sentimentality to it. This truck drives like a million bucks, so well that I tell people it drives like the day it left the ford...

2wd to 4x4 conversion people, I have questions for you who have done it!

So I got stuck on steep gravel towing a trailer AGAIN and began revisiting a 4x4 swap on my 77 f350 camper special. From research and parking 2 trucks side by side, I've figured out that there are actually a lot of similarities between the front of my frame and that of a 73- early 77 f250 4x4...

Hey fellas, been a million years since I posted. Got out of gen 6 fords for a while but now I'm back with a 77 f350 camper special. Setting up for gooseneck this weekend and had to make my own hitch (as is with everything on this truck). I decided to revisit my trailer wiring, since I am going...

1 piece vs 2 piece driveline

ug. so as i sit here thinking about how long the most recent u joint will last, i ponder...my f150 has the original 2 piece drive line. the u joints flat out will not stand up to the 460.the parts truck that the motor came out of had a much larger custom drive line with larger u joints in...

    2.9 upgrades

After a quick search, i guess ive got to start a thread about this.Ive got a ranger with a 2.9, and i plan on eventually replacing it with a 351w. But for now, a little more power would be much appreciated. So is there anything that people are doing to gain a little power?

    my new ranger!

So i decided its time for me to buy another toy. 1987 ranger, 2.9, manual, 4x4, 3" lift, 32-11.50-15 tires. The current problems- after i bought it, the battery i put in it was weak, and a friend of mine didnt understand that repeatedly clicking the starter on a weak battery wasnt gunna help...

    87 ranger t-case

I have an 87 ranger, 2.9, 4x4, 5 speed, electronically shifted t-case.I HATE THE STUPID ELECTRONIC BS.Is there any way to convert this to shift mechanically, like with a shifter through the floor? It dont have to be pretty, as this will be a wheeler. If this helps, i will have the...

Might be the new proud owner

Of a beat to hell 87 ranger. 2.9, 5 speed, 4x4, reg cab long box, 32-11.50 wildcats. It was a friend of mines brothers driver until he blew out the rear end. How, i dont know. So they needed it to drive and they got another rear end in, just to get them down the road. Only problem is it is...

    Stupid clutch

Ok. I got bored today coming home and decided i hadnt burned out in a while. So i stop on dry pavement, rev it just a tad, and dump the clutch. And it takes off like its an automatic. It slipped that bad. Didnt even spin the tires. WTHAccording to the guy i bought the engine /trans from, he...

    Shackle flip

Ok I'm gunna lift up my 77 4 inches. I've got almost everything I need for the front lift, but nothing for the rear. My rear springs are still pretty strong. If I flipped the bracket for the shackle wouldn't that give me about 2-3 inches of lift?My other question is, will flipping the shackle...

    And so it has begun...

For those who dont know the story, ill give a brief explanation.I blew up the 400 in my 77 f150 4X4. Replaced it with a 550 horse screamer 460. It was a used motor that i took out of a truck i bought. The guy i bought it from had completely beefed up the suspension from the t case back to...

    The easiest way to tell

Is it true that if you are trying to tell the difference between a d44 and a d60, you can tell by putting a wrench on the diff cover bolts? if 9/16, then d60? I think i heard this somewhere

    A little sloppy

Ever since i converted to 4 speed, from a c6, ive noticed some slop in the drivetrain. It is noticable when going from decelerating with the engine holding the truck back, to accelerating, or vise versa. I had the trans and tranfer case out when i did the swap, and didnt notice any slop there...

    Im a believer!!!

In the holly 600 cfm carb...I always thought 600 seemed a little small, especially for larger motors. Boy was i wrong. My 460 is relatively mild. Bored a little, valve job, cammed up, nothing extreme. Slap a holly 600 on there, that thing is a screamer. Lots of power throughout the RPM range...

    400 to 460 (Finally!!!) (56K warning)

In the last couple weeks ive finally started the swap ive wanted to do since the beginning- a 400/c6/205 swapped to a 460/t18/twin stick 205. I got lucky enough to find a donor truck with everything i need. This is my blue truck. I bought it about 2.5 years ago, and it hadnt failed me until...

    Lift springs

As some of you know, im working on the blue truck. The green one in my sig is the parts truck, with a lift. The front lift components look good, but i need to do something about the rear. All the PO did was stack factory blocks. That aint gunna cut it. I was wondering if anyone knew of a company...
