1998 f150 4x4 4.6 triton.
I replaced one manifold a couple years back ($140.) and now I noticed that the other one is starting to go. Was thinking about headers and Summit racing has their cheapies for $199. Question is will these match up to factory downpipes that all ready have the o2 sensors...
My 460 is from a 77 ltd. I need a rear sump pan to fit it properly in my 77 f100 2wd. Guy I see over in Pennsylvania every day at work says he has one and being a Chevy guy doesnt have any use for it.
My question is this, how many years does the bolt pattern match? Ive read newer ones will work...
This just showed up on CL.
Looks like a pretty cool project, don't have the room. Doesn't seem like a bad price either.http://akroncanton.craigslist.org/cto/3988369280.html
98 f150 4x4 4.6 5 speed.
Started puting her all back together today. New rear main seal, pilot bearing, flywheel, clutch. Referring the haynes manual for tork settings and its stating the the clutch needs to be pre adjusted before install. Wondering how important is this step? Done a little...
Was going to put this in "the Dents we find" thread, but I think it deserves its own thread. Sorry to hear about this Bob.http://akroncanton.craigslist.org/cto/3755720154.html
It's an 06 Excape 4wd.
Thought it was leaking at cover so I have everything here on hand to reseal it. Rolled under it and the cover/mating surface is still clean where I wiped it off yesterday. Upon further inspection it appears to be leaking where the pumping shaft goes in.My Haynes Manuel...
Talking to the wife tonight before I turn in and she tells me about this guy that came in the shop today. She saw that he was in an F250 and commented that "my husband has been looking for one". His response is "its for sale with a fifth wheel that goes with it for $15,900". The info is written...
Thought I would post some pics for all you southern folk that don't have to deal with rust. The running board on the wifes 99 Expedition was sagging down a bit in front, and after crawling under to check it out the support piece thats in between the black plastic and the mounts was completely...
Picked up a core support for $25 off Craigslist. Thought it was a great deal since mine was rotted out ay one of the frame mounts. Put the new one on and its different from the old one. Biggest difference is the radiater opening is smaller and it doesn't have the hole for the ac.So I'm...
A 77 f100 2wd that came with a 351 acorting to the vin.PO put in a 460, (believe it was out of a 77 LTD) but it doesn't fit quite right. Right Exhaust manifold is overlapping the frame rail making the exhaust connection poor and leaking. Oil pan real close to cross member. And the 460 swap...
Mom asked me to take a look and fix her 99 Crown Vic. It has a 4.6. It's been shuting off when she comes to a stop while the heater or ac is on. Turn heat and ac off and it runs fine. First thing I thought of was the idle air control valve, but briefly looking through my Haynes manual this...
Went out last Thursday on my way to the local pull a part and stopped in at a machine shop to ask if he had any power steering brackets laying around. He didn't but made a call to someone he knew of that had a few of these trucks sitting around. No luck on the bracket, but while talking i asked...
1 - The belts for the alternator and power steering are not aligned very straight. there are a lot of spacers and washers being used. By looking at the pics can anyone see anything out of the ordinary as in wrong brackets, or possibly wrong components?2 - The heater hoses are leaking...
Rumor has it that pictures are well received here so here's a few.
Its a 77 F100 2wd. Dont think ill give too many details just yet. lets see who can name what from the picks. One hint - the motor is not original.
First off let me state that I,m not a mechanic. Just able to do somethings myself which started at the age of 15 by not having the money to pay someone to do it for me.Second if you don't have a manual like a Haynes, Chilton, or FoMoCo go buy one. It will be well worth the money. There is a...
While watching a certain show about Trucks!(I wont mention the name) They were putting on a lift and had to remove the torsion bars. They showed you how to modify and use a C clamp. I'm thinking cool I have one of those that the end came off already so I'm good to go. Well, as I'm loosing the...
Ordered all the parts today. Have to get the rest of the truck torn apart today. Went with Moog brand, Used in the past and had no issues and they all come with zerk fittings. Going to reuse my hubs and see how they do. wanted to buy new ones but at $220 a piece I'll have to wait.
Any interest...
Talked the wife into selling her Pontiac Sunfire and getting an expedition. It wasn't difficult considering that she has been carting around two grandkids in carseats with a third on the way.Found a local for sale by owner this morning and went to look at it. It's in really good shape, nothing...
Its a 99 4x4 with 200 k on it.
Asking 2999.00
little conserned with the high mileage but for three grand its got me interested enough to go look at it.
While changing a cracked manifold today I noticed 5.4L stamped on the side of the head. I'm assuming that they used the same head for the 4.6 and 5.4, or has a previous owner miss matched some parts?
Long boring night at work and that left me time to think. My 98 4.6 5 speed 4x4 is making a horrible tapping noise. Sounds like an exhaust manifold but I am unable to see any signs of a leak anywhere. And when your under the hood and rev the motor it sounds more like its under the valve cover...
Looked thru a couple catalogs for the metal brake lines that come off the master cylinder to the proportioning valve. Not having any luck. Any advise on bending my own? Have never done this so it will be a learning experience for me.
This Econoline showed up this weekend at a friends party. They use it at rallies for camping and such. After talking to him about it i have come to the realization that I don't know much about these things. Its a 1990 E-350 with a 7.3 diesel. Quigley Conversions...
While waiting for all the electrical parts to come in from JBG, decided to start getting the seats put in my 79. They are out of a 96 f150xlt extended cab. not sure if I'm going to keep the center seat in or make a custom console. Here's with the center seat folded down. Here's with it...
so I'm messin around with the truck today. Got the front end all put back together (Just needs aligned now) Started workin on the taillights and turn signals that ended up turning into a bigger mess than originally thought. Fixed a frame to body ground strap, reconnected the wiring to the brake...
Anyone else having this problem? Seems the seal at the bottom of the glass is freezing the window shut. Will not open till it thaws out from the heater after about 15-20 minutes. Have any suggestions?(moving south is not an option)Of course this would not be a problem if I quit smoking.
The guy finally returned my call tonight, went and looked at them and they are not too bad offered $180 and he took it( should have started lower )The rims are 8" wide wanted 10"s and the Ground Hawg's have alot of life left in them. Will probably go with a different tire So I'll have to get...
