Rust is iron oxide, a chemical composition of iron and oxygen. So if you keep the air away from the iron, it won't rust. :)

If a piece of metal is covered with oil, then air can't get to the metal.

What you could do is use a big paint brush and "paint" the undercarriage of the truck with used oil. Let it side where the drips won't bother you, and re-apply whenever it needs it.

you've got that right! new england is HORRIBLE on vehicles in general not just fords. i live in New Hampshire and rust is a very very very very very very common thing. ive failed an 02 super duty for rust issues (cab corner was rotted out and same with the rocker panel) it was a work truck but rust none the less. my truck surprisingly has the ORIGINAL SHACKLES AND MOUNTS!! AND ORIGINAL RADIUS ARM BUSHINGS!!!!! the bushings im planning on replacing soon though because they are just now starting to crack. the rear suspension is fine on mine. no problems as of yet. my rocker panel and cab corner need to be replaced though..... not looking forward to it but i am going to do it because i love this truck too damn much! haha
