Do you have any idea how much New Englanders will pay for genuinely rust-free trucks?
Just to give you an example of what New England can do to a truck, here's the shock on my aunt's '89 F-150:

And that's a factory shock- supposed to have the steel outer tube come down and cover the piston...

Mid to late 90's Taurus with a 3.8L v6. Not sure of the exact year, but they were different body styles. Since we mixed the fans up, it's impossible to figure which is which now.
My crewcab looks like that on occasion and every few years I have to clean/paint the bits underneath to keep the metal where it's supposed to be - on the truck.
You're right about new england trucks - rust rust rust - thanks to the humidity, wide temperature changes, and of course, massive road salt.
Sad thing is my rear shocks rotted off COMPLETELY and I didn't notice until I loaded up the bed - THEN I realized the shocks were missing - bouncy bouncy bouncy. Fun ride home with 3000-3500lbs of gravel in the bed. See, F350 rear springs are fairly stiff and unloaded it just hops - shocks or not.
90-96 Lincoln Continentals, 91-97 Taurus with the 3.8L. Mr. Tape Measure says that any of the 4.6L Crown Vic, Marquis and Town Car fans to '00 will fit well enough as well.
isnt there something you can spray or roll on the frame that helps? someone told me you should spray used motor oil.. dont see how that helps...
how long has that been sitting there? thats REALLY rusted...
