  1. An interesting read for prospectors...

Interesting article! where did you see they had different gearing? I must have missed that in the article
  2. Skank!!!

Nice truck and congrats on the purchase! Been looking at them myself so i was wondering if you could detail the deal you worked (down pmt, purchase price, financing specs etc)Looks almost too nice to drive!
  3. Option list finally came in from Ford WTF!?!?!?

dont know but FJ is cloth Captains chair in granite color.
  4. Option list finally came in from Ford WTF!?!?!?

according to my shop manual, X15 stands for F150 supercab 4x2.there is nothing about styleside or flareside is in the VIN. the only way to tell is your door jamb sticker, in the body code, your truck should have a "C" as the 3rd digit for supercab flareside. a styleside supercab would have an...
  5. F350 with a 302

    i will make it even easier, look at the 8th position of the VIN Y = 4.9L N = 5.0L H = 5.8L
  6. may buy this motor and swap EFI on

that motor looks like a regular lo-po 5.0L not an HO. I would check that closer, the computer and upper intake which you need for EFI are different if it is a plain 5 liter. if it is a lo-po motor, the pistons, cam and heads are different than the HO motor.an easy way to tell will be the fuel...
  7. How much would you spend to fix your 9th gen?

i would never spend that much on that truck. you would never be able to get that money back out of it. also, I would NEVER take a truck more than 5 years old to a dealer....i'd rather flush my money down the toilet.
  8. Ford F-250 Axle question

I have seen these before. it is a 10.25 semi floating as someone else said here. From the shop manual, the axle is rated at 5,300 where as the full floater is 6,250.
  9. E-Fan conversion

why not just mount the fan inside of your stock shroud. use the zip ties through the rad and the existing mounts for the shroud. either that or get a mark viii fan at the junkyard.
  10. 93 F150 rear buddie seats ? Rare?

Hi LArry! My 94 supercab has those seats. allows for so much more usable room back there. The truck is an XL stripper model that had a vinyl bech seat originally. I guess they put them in the base model trucks. What color was the interior? mine is blue.
  11. Pops and cracks in front end

has anyone mentioned outer U-joints at the front axle? you said it is when you turn, I know they are not engaged in 2wd but they still have to flex when the wheel is turned....
  12. Reprogramming an EEC-IV Computer

what truck could you get a computer from? F150's with a 5.8L weren't offered with a manual transmission, only the E4OD. will a 5.0L MT computer work since they were MAF 94 and up? you could also try a F250 5.8L manual computer but i don't think they were MAF.
  13. SOLD

good deal, there! are you including your time and $$ spent on parts? I remember some previous threads where you fixed that thing up right?
  14. 5.0L to 5.8L

because the 90 302 has a different firing order than the 351. The mass air trucks of 94+ got the HO and 351 firing order so a computer swap would not be necessary on those years.
  15. 5.0L to 5.8L

my mistake, i thought you said he would need a c6 or manual trans but you said a computer from one of those trucks.
  16. 5.0L to 5.8L

Why does he have to change out the AOD? the bellhousings are the same and the AOD is not controlled by the computer. It may not last as long from the additional torque but it should last for a while anyway.
  17. 5.0L to 5.8L

I would think you need a 5.8L computer along with the intake. Also a new Y-pipe for the exhaust since the 5.8 is wider. motor mounts may interchange but i am not sure. Have you sourced a 5.8L yet?
  18. 1990 F-250

how could you tell from the window sticker? the last one i saw said 4 speed automatic transmission, both the AOD and E4OD were 4 speed auto transmissions. just wondering how you could tell the difference without having the transmission code from the door jamb sticker.
  19. 1990 F-250

The E4OD first started in trucks and vans in 89. the 89-91 trucks had the OD cancel switch on the dash rather than the end of the gear shift like the 92-96. The A4LD was never used in full sized trucks or behind a V8 for that matter, it was used in rangers, bronco II's and explorers.
  20. 1990 F-250

how do you know its a C6? 1990 could have had an E4OD. C6 are pretty tough trannies, might just be low on fluid if it is a C6.
  21. Rear Axle Trac-Loc(POSI) clutch kit

you might be able to get a good deal on a mustang site. same kits for all 8.8 lockers. how much does the kit go for on broncograveyard?
  22. well passed state inspection

Larry, good to hear! 30K miles is a lot in one year, and i thought i drove a lot. my daily driver racks up 22-25 per year. my 94 supercab though of course has been delegated to home depot, junk yard and 4x4 winter runs so it gets only 2K miles a year which means i am emissions exempt. Do you...
  23. Sweet gen 1 Lightning....

I beg to differ here, not sure how many lightnings you have seen, my buddy had one for a year. the lightning sticker is always on the front of the bed for the gen 1 lightnings. The gen 2 are on the fender. That is defintely a lightning, the engine code in the VIN is R for the 5.8 HP and the axle...
  24. Stock Transmissions

that is correct, the only 4 spd autos were E4OD and 4R70W. it may have been called the AODE in 92 but my 93/94 shop manual has the 4R70W
  25. Stock Transmissions

actually, the AOD selector pattern is P-R-N-OD-D-1. manual shifting into second gear is only acheived in the AOD by doing the 1-D-1 shuffle.
  26. T5 gearbox instead of the m5od. possible?

yea guys with built mustangs are always breaking T5's unless you get a built one. as someone said, you would be better off finding a ZF 5 speed from a 351.
  27. T5 gearbox instead of the m5od. possible?

cross member would have to be custom, don't think anyone produces one for the f-series.the mustang clutches are manual operated with a cable where as the truck is hydraulic i beleive?shifter and driveshaft, you would have to fine measurements of the T5 compares to the M5OD, it might not be...
  28. Plugs and Wires

94 and up got the HO firing order 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8. yours should be that.
  29. 93 F250 question..

sounds like a C6. another way to find out is look at the gear selector window on the dash, a C6 will have D-2-1 where an E4OD will have OD-2-1
  30. my new posi axle!! 56K arning

wear pattern between the ring and pinion, usually checked with yellow paint to make sure the pinion is contacting the ring gear in the middle. not necessary for this application as it is already setup from the factory. If you were installing new R&P like 3.73's or 4.10's then you would want to...
