T5 gearbox instead of the m5od. possible?

well i found a 5.0 mustang T5 in good condition for 300$

will it work? whats all the work that needs to be done to the truck??

tranny crossmember??
clutch pedal system?
shifter?
driveshaft same lenght?

cross member would have to be custom, don't think anyone produces one for the f-series.

the mustang clutches are manual operated with a cable where as the truck is hydraulic i beleive?

shifter and driveshaft, you would have to fine measurements of the T5 compares to the M5OD, it might not be long enough to reach the factory truck shifter opening. Also, you would probably have to fabricate a shifter handle since mustang shifters are short and truck has to be longer.

would be an interesting swap if you had the time for some fabrication work.

The big problem is going to be shifter location. The T5 shifter is at the tail, while the M5OD is centrally located... M5OD diagram, among others
Also, strength wise, you really won't gain much. Be better off to find a ZF trans...

i heard that the t5 is rated at 300 ftlbs of torque.. any one know whats the m5od rated at?

probably higher. The 351w was rated at 315 ft/lbs from the factory.

exactly and the all the things i have to do it to work is allot..

soo better of finding a zf5

lets hope that m5od will hold a few months
