Well, he finally came. Great guy. He originally came over for the Tonneau cover, but he couldn't get it. He has to take the lock out and try that, but if not, I have to get a new lock from ARE if I want to keep the Tonneau cover.

On the other hand, he was able to do the Pats key on his second try. He actually had factory Ford keys too, so the spare has the Ford oval in it.

Glad to hear you got your Pats key set.

Thanks. I was afraid that the maximum amount of keys were made, but this is only the 6th of 8. Does kinda worry me that there are 4 other keys out there to my truck that I don't have.:headbang:

Any way to change it?

Nothing because I was putting a fuel pump in my father's Blazer. Had to repair one of those nylon fuel lines on the return side. Got it all together to find out the main metal line looks like it is starting to leak. Fuel spraying out between the nylon and metal line. Changed the nylon line and connector but still spraying out and the metal line is rusty so.... I bet the dealer won't have it in stock either.

When Chris starts the "What have you done to your CHEVY" thread I guess I'll be able to post in it :rofl2:

If there are that many keys floating around I would change something.

Well, the truck was brought north a few hundred miles, so I doubt I'll have a problem. But to be safe, i'm not posting too many pics of it like I do with the F100.

I may decide to swap out tonneau covers for one of the soft ones should I have a problem. I may also remove the step bars and maybe switch the wheels and step bars to what the truck below has. Then, I shouldn't have a problem.

Those mods would only come should I have a problem.

Yea I know. I'm just paranoid like that.

I'm definitely not whoring out pics though. I never realized it before, but do a search of 1980 Ford F100 on Google Images. Just in the first 11 pages of results there's 10 pictures of my truck. It's worse when you type 1980 Ford F100 Ranger Lariat. It's nice to know i'm important enough to be on the first few pages of Google.

Used the Bronco to tow my little brother's gf's Blazer home. It was overheating and not wanting to go into gear. Well the radiator was a gallon low and no tranny fluid on the dipstick...but the dipstick smelled buuuuuuuuurned. What is it with chicks and maintenance. I taught my chick how to check the basics...and if she doesn't wanna do that, at least tell me to check them.

Women and vehicle maintenance is like Men and laundry. Women will finally end up working on the vehicle (ie: taking her to a rip off mechanic) when she sees fire coming out of the engine bay or it stops moving when she presses the gas pedal. While a man will finally do laundry when he sees his underwear being able to stand up on its own.

How my wife ever kept a car on the road for as long as she did, I still have no idea.

^^^Hahaha...Amazing how women survived without a man. But my thinking is, c'mon Kala, you know I'll help you. She told me it hadn't been wanting to go into gear for about a week and it would rev really high, then slam in to gear. She also said she noticed her Blazer was getting really hot driving around town for the last couple of weeks. I asked her why she didn't tell my brother or me, she said she thought it was getting old and thats what happens...so she was prepping to buy a new car. By the looks of things, I'd say she's at least looking at a new transmission. She said her temp gauge hit 260* before she shut it down yesterday...so who knows what other damage is in there. I topped off the fluids and my bro is gonna drive it around today.

Sounds about right. :headbang: Doesn't the oil break down around the 250 degree mark? I think I read this somewhere.

^^^Pretty sure 220 is about the max you wanna see...240 you're causing damage and 250-260 you'll be experiencing catastrophic failure. As a matter of fact, my gf's little brother has the same exact blazer, and just overheated and cracked the block about a month ago. They decided an engine replacement was cheaper and more reliable than buying another car. Final total though was $3200 plus a $300 tow.

That's engine temp, right? My additional temp gauge is hooked up directly to the radiator to measure water temp.....this was done by previous owner....what is normal temp for the water?

From what I understand, water temp with a 195* tstat, it's not uncommon to fluctuate between 195 and 205-210ish...and that can be considered healthy. And where exactly do you have your temp gauge plumbed into your radiator? Should be around the upper hose side.

See that copper wire creeping up towards the top of the radiator? That's hooked to one of my phantom gauges on the roll cage bar.

It stays around 190-195 consistently all day long for all slower (0-45 mph) and in town driving.....but when I'm at highway speeds (65-80), it stays consistently in the 210-220 mark.....is this ok?

^^^I'd say you're fine...considering you have a pretty built engine. I was more or less discussing stock engines. But it does sound a little high to me...just keep an eye on it and don't push it. Temp shouldn't get that much hotter at highway speeds.
