Yep my test drive even included towing my utility trailer 15 miles. I still have the exhaust issues and need to to do my rear brakes and a minor adjustment to the clutch because the pedal doesn't come all the way to the top but other than that so far everything is great. I will make a video maybe tomorrow. It might be a while before I get the exhaust issue fixed.

I am glad to see you only have a few small issues to work out and your truck is running great.

Yeah this is just a disaster. I think I'm just gonna make them drive back and forth all day with different plug numbers just to piss them off all day  As far as the headers I have no idea what to do. I knew the price was too good to be true. I wish I noticed the plugs before I put it in. I would have sent the whole thing back. I don't know of any benefit to putting these heads on. Maybe the parts guy has more info on the motor or why this was done.

Edit: I looked up a 1983 F100 and a 1991 Mustang with 5.0L. Both show SP-450 under A/Z website. I think that should work for me. Now to figure out the exhaust. I might be able to heat the headers and bend them up a bit. I'll see what my friend says tomorrow when he looks at it.

Sorry I'm late to this

Thanks for the link Dennis. I did use Motorcraft sp450. I'm going to keep that link for reference since it lists alot of other suitable brands/numbers. I was a little disappointed to see that the heads were different than my originals. Is there any benefit to having the newer heads that you know of?

Have about 30 miles on it so far. Still gotta check and see if any leaks or anything, but so far it's looking good. It is nice to see between 40-60psi of oil pressure versus the 12-25psi I used to have.

Man...you gotta stop teasing me. I see the email notification and expect some pics or vids...haha. Glad to hear everything is checking out so far. That oil psi is definitely a big monkey off your back isn't it? Definitely gives you a little more confidence in your engine.

Thanks...I swear, I have to be the second most anxious guy (behind the owner) when it comes to new engines and restores. It's like my porn...and I'm addicted.

Have about 60 miles on the engine so far. Today was the hardest I pushed it. Some girl was trying to show off in her new Camry so had to leave her sitting at the light still never broke 3,000 rpms

Two engine pics. Can't see much because it's black and I like it that way!

Have about 100 miles on it so far and it is running great. Only bad thing is it looks like the rear main seal is dripping a little 'smiliedoh'. I simply refuse to pull the engine back out. I will be putting manifolds on hopefully this week to get rid of the exhaust leaks and will make video of it running then.

UPDATE: Rear main seal is basically leaving a puddle everywhere I park. After 3 weeks of Autozone jerking me around they say they are ordering another motor for me. Hope this works out so you all can see some videos.

smilieIagree smiliewhathesaid That does suck! :hammer:
If it were me, I'd just make them replace the rear main seal, rather than the whole engine.

I wouldn't let Autozone fix anything on my truck. Plus it is easier to to pull the engine to do seal IMO anyway so they might as well give me a hopefully good engine this time :)

I hope you don't take this as sticking it in your azz...because I know you can only do as money will allow...but to me, it sounds like your story is turning into every other story I've ever when dealing with an AZ (no offense Fellro). So my question is...if you had it to do over again, would you still go for the deal AZ gave you, or drop a couple hundred extra bones somewhere else???????
