I'm surprised it quit with only 3 teeth missing. I had a 302 that had all but 9 missing before it quit.

NOOOOOOOOO...it was waaaaaaaaay more than that...it was just when I first pulled the cam gear that I noticed 3 teeth missing. Don't worry Cliff, I'll post pics.

BEN, I BET YOU that there was at least 1 1/2 " of slack on the chain

I had a timing chain that was so loose I took it off without taking the gears off... of course, it was one of those wonderful nylon covered aluminum gears, had one tooth that still had any nylon on it...

For a pic fix (forgive me Ben), here's the stock timing set that cam off of my 1979 400 in my F250. No missing teeth, but some chain stretch after about 50,000 miles.

Sorry guys...been really busy the last week or so. The gf had some emergencies in her family, I had 2 more tryouts and been job hunting...and had to wait for some parts to come in. Don't think I forgot about you. A write up and pics will be up in a couple days.

Daggon Dennis...exactly right...I took a pic, so you'll see it.

Took a pic of that too...I only had 8 teeth with nylon still on it...and 3 teeth that were completely sheered off.
