A 48 state rig like his probably doesn't have a cat.

Ben, I doubt if it's the chain, but if you do change it, let me know and we can make your write up a sticky.

Hey guys...thanks again for all the suggestions. Yesterday I went through and tested/replaced everything suggested. Except for the one time it started, she's been dead...and except for the one time it started, it sounds and acts like a textbook tc problem. And no, no cats and no cc. I'm gonna pick up the pulley pullers today and get to work on it tomorrow.

I think you need to just get rid of it Ben.
Sounds to me like its going to just be a liability and cost you a bunch of money. I'll be more then happy to take it off your hands:D

Sounds like a clogged catylitic convertor to me.

As stated...no cats.

I did like your suggestion of throwing the cam in...so I decided to pick up a 400 short block from O'Reilly's for $400 and I'm gonna throw all my go fast parts into it, and when I finally get a free weekend I'll swap anything and everything that is swapable. That way, the Bronco is still driveable for the time being. Saturday marks the day that I'll actually get the timing set done.
