Back to topic!

I just saw the truck. It is comparable with mine body-wise. Little surface rust, nothing worth crying over. Needs: linkage for steering something or another, new rear window (The one there is... there, but I'd like to replace it).

Sounds good, runs strong. Tuned good with a Holley carb. No A/C. Has the Explorer trim. But, the glove box says custom???

Oh, and it's a 2 owner! - A family truck.

That's what I was thinking. I don't get it...I thought you said you didn't have the cash to pick up a Bronco and that's why you said you needed to trade your truck? In all honesty, I say save your money until you can buy something you really want. If the only requirements are it's a Ford and has a tcase, so be it. If you're looking for a Bronco, so be it. If you're looking for something reliable with a ford badge (redundant I know Ford=reliable) and a tcase, so be it. You just need to make up your mind on what you actually want to keep yourself from wasting money.

That being said, if you offered me $1000 for a truck I was asking $1800 for, a little more than half my asking price, I'd tell you to leave and would never sell you my truck based on principal. Offering 55% of his asking price is a pure insult. I realize it's your cash to do with as you please, but unless he straight up needs the cash, I wouldn't be surprised if he just blew you off as a young punk kid. I typically start negotiations at 30% less than asking. I'm all about looking out for number 1, but I'm also about being fair and not screwing other people just because you're in situation where you can, what goes around comes around.

I still say this^^^. If you're just looking for a rig to blow money on, fine, if not hold off and save.

Well, the goal of this exercise is to purchase something gen 6 that is a 4x4. Bronco would be the best option, but I would be just as happy with this one.

And the trading was/would be to aid the process. I have some cash coming in, but a straight trade would have helped.

Having two of these trucks wouldn't be bad at all! :D

IMO you are just settling. How do you go from giving up your truck for a Bronco to just buying something with 4wd? I think you are in a bit of a rush, but it is your money to do as you please.

Well, the Bronco was mainly for 4x4. The top and having captains chairs were plus'. And I can't find a Bronco around here that's worth poking a stick at for less than 5k.

this is purely my opinion. get the truck, drive it run it, mud it, off road it. get your fun out of it without beating the chit out of it. turn around and sell it. youll get the majority if not more money out of it to what you paid for it. and this is after your find a usable bronco.

That's what I'm thinking. Or I'll just hold on to it when I do find a Bronco. I will be 18 soon and have a nice line of co-signers in the family, so I can get something or another if it comes down to it.

Personally I wouldn't get a loan for a truck that costs $1,800 (if that's what you are referring to co-signer for). That's a good way to tack on the debt. If you don't have the cash just wait. 4wd is cool and all but if you want some sort of payment go buy a new truck. Dentsides are awesome, but I wouldn't want a monthly payment on a 30-some year old truck.

thats what hes meaning.... he said when hes 18 in a few months he'll be able to get a nicer vehicle cause hell be able to have a cosigner and pay for it.

I still say hold off even if you have a co-signor. Buying a vehicle is one of the worst investments out there, one that you're going to owe money on is even worse, because as soon you put even one mile on it, it's worth less than the loan you just got from the bank says it is.

Austin, the Explorer trim could be had with any other trim truck be it Custom,Ranger,Ranger XLT,or Ranger Lariat(78-79).They're actually kinda strange/rare-ish because they were only offered for a short period ever year, and the tape stripes and colors changed almost every year.

The older you get, the more that seems to happen. I was loaded in high school. Now I make 10x's as much and can't seem to rub two nickels together...haha. But that's mainly because now I can afford to buy and do things I never could before. So it's a wash I guess.

HEY!!! I looked at a Bronco tonight!

It's a 79 (the guy says 78, but it has a factory cat... def 79) Custom. Originally red on red, now white on red. Cheap enamel white paint, none of the insides painted, etc. COMPLETE! The guy has all interior, bumpers, *new grille shell*, aluminum rims, all glass... Doesn't run, lost oil pressure. Has C6, 351m. Can you say Cobra Jet???

Now the question is, how much does he want for it? And if the new grille shell can be sold separately.
