'73-mid '74 used metal taillight housings with separate taillight lenses. On these, the socket is part of the housing and the harness plugs into it.
In mid '74 Ford switched to the one piece plastic taillights with the bulb sockets as part of the harness.
What you're looking for are taillights...
From the factory, the ONLY V8 offered in 4X4's was the 360 2bbl. This is part of the FE family along with the 390's and 427/428's.
Also, another characteristic exclusive to the FE family is the intake manifold goes up under the valve covers.
Thanks for the compliments guys, I really appreciate all the kind words and encouragement that I get from all of you.
I would like to be a lot further along than I am but the next phase is the one that I've been dreading, paint and bodywork.
I've painted quite a few vehicles in the past and have...
Wow, I can't believe it's been a year since I've posted any updates here on the Pumpkin Project.:hammer:
The chassis is done, that was Phase 1, the powertrain, with the exception of a few details (like installing the engine and transmission) is done, that's Phase 2.
That's pretty much it. I...
Have you checked the axle vent? If it's plugged up, a very common problem, when the axle gets warmed up it will build up enough pressure to cause a leak on an otherwise good seal.
To check the vent, disconect the hose and unscrew the vent from the housing. Inside the vent, the actual hole is...
One thing to check, and this will be a "domino" effect. The tank pickup has a plastic mesh screen that can deteriorate and get clogged up with trash and varnish. I would start by checking that first, and here's where the domino effect comes in. It's easiest to do this by dropping the tank. Well...
Did a little more research.
If you do have the 3" wide D5UZ-5560-B spring already, there should be the engineering number D5UA-5560-HB stamped on it someplace.
The 2-1/2" springs the catalog calls for would have D5TA-5560-AKA on them.
The Ford parts catalog list D5TZ-5560-A as the spring for the rear of a '77 F150, however that spring is 2-1/2" wide not three.
I did some research and here's what I found:
D5UZ-5560-B is close and it's 3" wide.
Here are the dimensions between the two:
Dim. A = spring width, Dim. B is measured...
X3 on not my style.
I can appreciate good workmanship when something is done right and all the details are taken care of, I'm just not into lowriders. I like the stock look. I think Ford got it right the first time.
I had a '77 regular cab F250 (bought it new), it had the sliding rear window and a/c. I never really used the slider.
My current truck is an '07 F150 supercab. It has a power sliding window and I still don't really use it.
My project truck, a '73 F100, has a solid rear window. Overall I like...
Try NAPA for a carb kit. Just give them the number off your tag, D7TE-CUA. That should be all they need to give you the right kit.
But if the only thing wrong is a leaky accelerator pump, the pump diaphragm is available separatley and very easy to replace (four screws).
Try spraying WD40 or something similar into the switch through the hole the shaft goes in. If that doesn't work you probably need to replace the switch.
I like the factory look, always have. While my project isn't going to be a 100% restoration I want to keep it very close to the factory "look".
I like the little details like the correct fasteners and brackets being used. These are small things that most people won't ever see, but I will.
When...
