A favorite quote, from the book Blue Highways
William Least Heat-Moon said:
'I can't take any more.' comes just before 'I don't give a damn.' Let the caring snap, let it all break to hell. Caring breaks before the man, if he can only wait it out.
(Nothing sexist is implied by "the man," it was originally an introspective passage I chose not to edit to be gender-neutral.)

Dunno if it means anything to you, but I like it...[confused]

yeah, well God should let me build character at a more realistic pace. I can't handle a bunch at once.
You are SO not alone on that thought. Seriously though. This place makes a GREAT sounding board for putting stuff out there. Sadly for some of us (gee, I HOPE I'm not theonly one like this), the guys and gals here are our only "real" friends. I feel like I could tell everyone here anything about me that's going on and I'll get some good advice and ideas on how others have handles similar things. Now yeah, sometimes you get teased, but that teasing usually cheers me up. I mean, how many guys can laugh about blowing up a $10K engine? I was super upset when I did it originally. I was scared about how I was gonna handle things finacially since I was too stupid to really think it would happen. Tom, a guy that's been missing for a while got my phone #, called me personally while he was on the road truckin' and talked to me for a long time. He gave me some GREAT advice, like a father. It really helped me to calm down and straighten things out. Now of course, I get teased about it mercilessly. But it's all in fun. I'm cool with it and laugh now. Venting here REALLY relieves some stress.

my favorite quote is from Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil:
"Two tears in a bucket then just [censored starts with an eff] it"

sometimes you need more than two tears and a lot bigger bucket.

I feel like this has gone so drab now hahah. It started out as such a happy THREAD :) It's cool tho. Again, if you have any questions, feel free to ask. I'm not normally all melodramatic and such. I'm usually like this --> :D

Do you have any single, female friends in Maine who are looking for a stubborn jerk with heart of pyrite?

Figured it was worth asking, anyway... [confused]

we've got more bounce in CA (it's a song- don't quote me on it).
If Waylon Jennings didn't sing it, I don't know it... But I'll be nice and stop here.

I've had too much to drink to respond intelligently. Just know I tried. (And had trouble typing this with all the letters in the right places.)

I was wondering how long it'd take before someone asked that question. Glad it was you.

yeah, well God should let me build character at a more realistic pace. I can't handle a bunch at once. It's prolly only gonna get worse for the next month and a half, but then hopefully it will get better. Slowly but surely :)

My favorite saying- "Adversity doesn't build character, it just reveals it." You may not realize it yet, but some of these guys have already been to hell and back- some more than once. We won't go into the downsides of getting older, but there are a few upsides as well. The biggest one is perspective- I was past 30 before I started realizing and understanding that it wasn't the size of the problem, but the solution that counted. Sometimes the solution isn't obvious. At other times, you just have to let things play out. A good attitude- and supportive friends/family- will get you through anything. You'll just have to trust me on that for now.

I'm with you on that one. All my gang has moved on to bigger things and other states . So other than 1 or 2 guy for a 1 time a month burger and BS session . I think this as family .Heck we fight ,make up (sort of) pick on each other and lend support.

I'd like nothing more to buy a steak for you all . Lets see $550 x $15(removing shoes) =$ 8250
plus drink tips. ER you all may as well forget that .
