I didn't see a single gen 7 with burlwood in it today at the pull n pay. Speakin of which.

Went to 2 junkyards today...found a pedal assembly for my truck and a dodge Dakota shifter boot (cleaner more modern look and it looks different) both for just 13 dollars.......

Gen 7's had two different wood grain patterns. 1980-1984 have a rosewood grain like my bezels, and 85-86 have a burlwood design like the 6th gen. The 85-85 burlwood sucks, because it fades very easily into a pinkish color.

I went to put the ammo box under my hood today, but it would not fit. Since I put a coolant bottle next to the radiator I had to flip the horn around so that interfered with having the ammo box fit where a second battery would go. So maybe I'll try to figure out another spot for it.

I parked it in the middle of the back of the parking lot at work. That's about it.

Tore the front end down on the 86 to check the bearings and re pack em. Found out the front rotors are comin apart so theyre gettin replaced, cooked a rear wheel bearing on the way home last night like I figured would happen. Spent 400 bucks for parts so far.

Hooked up the battery charger because my stock style alternator int he bronco can't handle my electric fuel pump and electric fan on the high setting. I think I've managed to destroy the battery draining it down and charging it back up again and again over the past week. Oops. Time for a complete revamp of the electrical system so I can get this thing to daily driver reliability standard. I think everything else is good to go mechanically. Just need to get all the creature comforts down after that.

So far I decided that I wasn't actually happy with the half a$$ job I did on the radio bezel, and that I do care about how the Ranger Lariat is placed. So, I painted over the old lettering and now it's drying. After it dries, i'm gonna do it again, and make sure I get the lettering correctly positioned.

Well, I fixed it. Alot happier with it now.

BTW, before my cutting ability comes into question, I didn't cut up the radio slot on the bezel. A P.O. did it, horribly. I just found a factory radio that fit the hole. Kinda. :)

If I can find you one tomorrow. I bet you can use a dremel tool to cut it out better than the P.O.

That's what I did on mine, but the instructions I had were wrong and I only dremeled it up to so I need to do it on the bottom then I can put the surrounding bezel and it'll look great.

Dremel with cutting wheel followed by course sanding drum works great on dash plastic, i did a friends CB mounted that way after removing the cupholder slot in her 95 dodge 2500 and it looks like a factory install.

Nothing worse than a CB mounted without hidaway wiring IMHO, hence all the trouble i went through on my roof mount CB in the ford

Actually, i'm going to a factory dummy Am/Fm shaft style radio. I put that one in there before I decided to go for an original look. I'm gonna make an extension harness of some sort and put an aftermarket CD player behind the seat.

If you can find one that's been uncut, awesome. But if you find one that's already been cut, I still want it.

Thanks Cliff.

Hopefully they will have some good pieces,a lot of times they are butchered up pretty bad. I will let you know.

Hell, even if the piece is torn up, i'll still take it. I might be able to pull the Ranger Lariat script off it and glue that to my current bezel until I can find one in good condition.
