ive been playin with the idea of makin my 351 winnie e.f.i. should i? if i do what should i pull the parts from? do they make conversion kits for my truck? difficulty? estimated cost? time?

If you're having problems with a carb...you'll have even more problems with efi. I wouldn't do it. You'd need the entire top end from an efi rig...inlcuding heads. They do sell kits, but kinda pricey....I've seen them as high as 1500...but could be as low as 800.

I know ya did Ben but I made it easier since SOME people on this site are lazy.

I woulda made it easier...but I didn't see what exact carb he had...except for 600cfm eddy

If it's running rich...you tried rejetting? And quite honestly, a 600cfm carb is pretty big for a 351w...that's what came stock on a 460, and could be part of your problem...bigger isn't always better when it comes to carbs. Personally, I prefer Holley's as opposed to Eddy's for the same reasons you stated that you were displeased. On top of that, the Holley cfm rating is actually more accurate because it's wet flow tested as opposed to dry flow like Eddy...which is the main reason you can squeak a few more hp outta Holley carbs. As for what carb to use...I'm a fan of any of the 4150's...they just give you more control...the 4160 is essentially the same carb...and more user friendly out of the box. So if I were you...I'd go with a max of 600cfm electric choke and vac. secondaries...if it meets those criteria...I think you'll be happy.

i have a 650 holley dp on my 306 but we set it right and its not running rich at all

to get the right carb for your APP

engine displacement (c.i.d)x max RPM / 3.456 = ideal carb cfm!

in my case

306 x 6000 / 3.456 = 531.250

so my carb is too big for my engine but we set it right and having no probs

Hey Jurg...I think your decimal place is off a bit. Don't think there should be one at all.

Just did the thing jurgen posted for the 410 with a .030 over bore makes it 416 x 5000/3456 = 601.851

Yeah...it nailed Red's...408x5500/3456=649.31...and it's got a Holley 4150 650cfm.

The Bronco on the other hand is...400x5000/3456=578.7...I'm a bit over, but I have it set up just fine on the current 351M...so I think I'll be fine on the 400.

That 410 definitly will make more power with the 750 I got but it just drowns it in fuel. Im guessin that its because the 600s are tuned for fuel economy and the 750s are tuned for maximum power. The 600 will bog in the gears alot better where the 750 wont but the top end is a whole different story.

351 x 6000 /3.456 ends up being almost 610 cfm so i think my size is okay

I'm thinking that 6000rpm is a little ambitious...hell, most 393/408 builds only flirt with 6500-7000rpm. Your stock components are probably good to 6000rpm...but I'm thinking in reality you're only turning a max of 5k...probably closer to 4500 on a worn stock 351W...which would put you more in a 450-500cfm range.

Ok then just do what they said in jugens video and turn the two air screws all the way in till they seat lightly and then back em off 1 and a 1/2 turns. Then adjust your idle speed and try that out.
