Update: The starter was still dragging but not every time. I replaced the positive battery cable in Advanced Auto parking lot and the guy walked out and asked me what was wrong. I told him the starter was staying engaged and he just shrugged and told me I have it installed too close to disengage.
I kinda looked at him like he was stupid but listened to him anyway and backed off both bolts in the starter and wiggled it away from the flywheel as far as I could (it was a VERY small about, maybe 1/32 of an inch at most), tightened them back up and turns out, he was exactly right!!
