Insufficient EGR Flow

Well it's back. I've now replaced the tube, the valve and sensor last October and fixed one vacuum leak that I found over by the solenoid.

CEL comes on around 20-35mph, sometimes it eventually goes off which makes me think it is the egr valve getting stuck.

Next troubleshooting steps?

How much vacuum should the egr valve to open? I applied just over 20 psi with no hint of stalling the engine.

I would think it should be able to open fully under only a few inches of vacuum... 5 or 10in/hg?

Yeah I read not to go above 10, so that makes sense. Looks like I got a valve from Napa that lasted a whole year. I will try to clean it (might eventually replace it) and post results. Thanks!

So I have the valve out, is there an easy way to know if it's bad or broken?

I don't remember what the valve looks like on that year for sure but you should be able to see it move if you put vacuum to it. Is it pretty clean? Not carboned up, etc?

I attached a picture. It doesn't look too bad, I cleaned it with carb cleaner.

Looks pretty clean... If it's opening and closing as it should is guess it's ok

Cleaned the valve and put it back in, CEL cleared
