I went to do the compression test today and the glow plug case turned out leaving the core. This makes me think the cylinder is pretty carboned up. May be pulling the head. Also what the hell is in my fuel line. It has a wire running to it. Is thicker in the middle. Thinking its a fuel warmer. Its between the lift pump and the filter
IIRC, that thing in the fuel line is a fuel heater. I don't believe the 6.9's had the fuel heater in the top of the filter head like the 7.3's did so it's a pretty safe bet. Try soaking the GP core with some carb/choke cleaner or some Diesel Kleen to help break up the carbon a bit....Wouldn't hurt to try pulling the core out before yanking the heads right? Buy nothing but Motorcraft/ Beru GP's as any other brand will give you nothing but problems.
Ok these engines seem like a pain. The left pump took me over half hour to change. The fuel line nut was seized had to remove whole thing and heat on bench to remove. Glowplugs swelling and causing grief. Lol. I suppose anything over 20 gives problems Lol. Wanna add a set of gp to the order Lol . I might just pull the heads. This is silly already.
Over on FSB a guy can edit his posts years later. (hint hint
Just wanted to add this silliness, it doesn't deserve a whole new post...
{it just kept growing LOL:}
That's from these notes I was taking as I was trying to understand the
new gear ratios I was getting myself into on the '91 Bronco (and the ZF
from the '90 F250 parts truck) and comparing them to my '75 F150 T18
I was so familiar with (and had changed the axle from 3.25 to 3.50 in)...
