Let me do some checking, and get back to you on getting a set ordered, because it likely is an injector still. A compression test would be helpful, but not something you can find easily. Harbor Freight has them, but can't say how good they are for 440 or so. I have no issue getting the injectors sent here and then send them on to you, not that hard really.

Mistyped, the HF price is $40. But I will see what I can find, but it won't be for a couple days, as I have two tests to deal with tomorrow.

yes, since I am one that said it... I picked up a set for my old man's 84 for around $100

Lol I didnt go back and check. Sorry. For sure I would pay that plus shipping for them. Usps is the way to go though. Just charges us tax on it not brokerage fees. Ups is the worst for brokerage fees. Maybe this weekend I can find time to do a compression test. See whats really going on.

You don't want it to run, that would be scary... I'll have to check specs to see what they should pump at, but you can pump it and see what they give, if the numbers are pretty consistent or not. If the numbers are more than 20% from highest to lowest, there is issues.

Well this is a heavy truck guage. Supposed to go in the injector hole. And it does say in the instructions to run. Now me personaly have never run an engine during a compression test. Especially since I assume you use the glow hole on these engines . There would still be fuel and combustion. Would wreck the guage unless you took the line off the injector . So what is done to prevent the truck from starting. Just crack a few lines?

You just unplug the injector pump fuel solenoid, the heavy wire on the right side as you face it.You would use the glow plug hole on these motors.

450 pounds is usually spec, but like Fellro said....if there's a 20% discrepancy between the CRs on any of the cylinders then you've got a problem.

would the 3.55 and the 5 sp be too much of an over gear.
would that limit towing ability.
Don't know nuthin'bout diesels but on my '91 Bronco with...
5.8/351w
3.55 gears
ZF 5 speed
31.5" 265/75-16E's tires (yours got 31.5" 235/85-16E's?)

2nd gear seems a little tall to start off in and the whole works
seems a little too tall geared. I'm going to 3.73 gears later. :)
(I advanced the cam 4 degrees and that helped but didn't fix it)

4.10 is the typical gear for work trucks with 31.5" tires with
gasoline engines. Diesels different that way?

Mine has the 4.10 gears, and pulls well, but with no overdrive, max speed is 75, best towing speed is right about 60. Best mileage is generally from 3.55 gears.Diesels don't like to revv, 3 grand is too high.
