IF they itemize (which the house alone would qualify), but then the deduction is still limited to 50% of their AGI, so maybe they are wealthy to begin with. Just doing the math in my head, the sale (plus any capital gains) would be much, much better than a tax deduction even at the 39% tax bracket.

Honestly can't remember...it was foreclosure though that was listed 85-90k under tax value. I didn't hesitate to offer asking price, Bailee and I loved it that much...next day, donated.

I don't know if Mark was joking or not, but that is where my money would be.....guberment gave them 2-3X's your asking price to donate it out of some slush fund from some past stimulus money because some congressman knows someone at the bank who is sleeping with someone who knows someone at wounded warriors who dog sits for that person's nanny.

A friend of mine made an offer to a bank on a foreclosed house. Two weeks later he finds out a guy that flips houses bought it for $12k less than what my friend offered. My friend had to buy it from that guy for $20 over what the guy paid and he never did a thing to the house.

I kind of have a feeling that may be what's going on here too...I jumped on the house so quickly, they've been doing nothing but trying to make me walk away since the start. I didn't even have the termination papers yet, and my little bro said he saw them showing the house already.
