FWIW...I had a long talk with the bodyshop that is doing my 79 and I brought up bedliner as undercoating. They suggested that I don't, as it can crack and trap moisture. They suggested a POR15 coat then a matching body color. I did a bunch of reading and called a few other places and that was the general consensus.

I didn't know that. Good to know.

Wow learn something everyday.

I didn't believe it either Cliff and called a few places and told them what I had in mind. They said it is unlikely to crack, but can....and given that it could and then hold moisture I decided against it.

I didn't know it could crack either since everyone shows people dropping rocks as their commercial LOL

I really would not have thought so either...but I figure that on the off chance that it could, I won't bother.

You're supposed to prime a surface you intend on spraying rubberized undercoating on? Whoops....the rubberized undercoating does withstand heat, I'd got it coating the diesel's air cleaner lid.

Yep, it holds better.

And good to know that it holds up to heat.

Welp, coming up on about 1 month with the truck. Driving my first 5 speed has been a trip. The bed is off, new trailer led lights are on. I finally got it registered (thanks improper signature for throwing a wrench in the fan!). Can't forget to mention the radio install and my attempt at painting. So far so good!

(I added some pics to that most of ya'll have seen already. I wanted them in the build thread.)

Haha! The rear works, but the guage doesn't work when switched to the front.

Thanks!

Austin, what did you do to your truck today?

Good question, I pressure washed that sucker!!!!

Looks like I'm going to have better luck with a wire brush, though. I also did some rattle-canning on panel supports.

Pics coming up! But before I show the paint, let's talk exhaust. Under the cab, the pipe is cut... looks something like -_

Okay, here's the frame stuffs... I shot a matching Rustoleum gloss white down in the pockets on the bed, as well as the tail light area.

These supports were done in a flat black. I piled it on there; they will see some abuse from the road...

Since this is the final color, I threw this down via rattle can just to remind me what I'm doing. :D
