A/C Question?

I didn't mean to hijack the thread. It will be a long time before I get to the point of worrying about AC. Him installing it in his (or going to) just made me think of it as a possibility.

Tom can tell you how hot it gets in there in town traffic.

I got the Heater controls,as they are conected to the radio thing,I have no idea what else your talking about.

There are three different Ford A/C's used 1973/79...one is dealer installed, two are factory.

The dealer A/C is built into the dash, so it looks like factory A/C to the untrained eye. When you get that 1973/79 parts catalog...go here and take a look see:

ILLUSTRATION SECTION 195. Go there and scroll thru all the pages...see if what you bought matches the correct factory A/C system.

There were also aftermarket A/C 's from Sears, Mark IV and Air Cold Sales (Climatic Air) that ppl installed.

btw: Dennis said you copied his brochures...and those are the ones you posted on FTE, that's now a sticky.

Don't laugh...Ford actually made one! And it will fit your truck.

Thought you'd like to know that 1953/64 Ford passenger cars (not Birds) only had one type of A/C, it hung under the dash. Find one a those puppies from 1956 thru 1963 with a Y block...everything bolts up under the hood. The dash unit (evaporator, registers..all one unit) bolts to the bottom of the dash...it's a snap once you find the unit.

All the components will really work from any '56/64 car, but you need the Y block mount and drive stuff for under the hood.

Try here: Big M Automotive in Williams CA = out in the middle of nowhere-north of Sacramento. Mike has 100's of 1950's/60's Fords. Come to think of it...Mike might have all that P/S stuff, too.

It is worse than that. I originally wanted a real hotrod. I bought this truck with the intention of hacking it up, modernizing everything, and driving it daily. Well....after the 06 supernats and only 4 Y-block there...I decided to stick with the original drivetrain.

Now...I drive it almost daily and on some long trips (over 8 hours in one day a few weeks ago). I drove it just over 100 miles today. I want to be comfortable and not totally worn out when I get where I am going.

Power steering will happen someday as well as some padding in the seat ...AC I seriously doubt.

Why would I want a vacuum ashtray? I do not smoke and never have. I can't stand being around it even. Right now...mine has change in it. Eventually, I would like to hide a tiny tach in there, so that when closed it is hidden. I can't tell how many RPMs I am running with my loss of hearing. Around here it does not matter, but I would like to know out on the interstate when I am driving a lot faster.

My brother had an I.H. Scout II with the under dash AC. Actually worked fairly well believe it or not.

I might try to find a website for that place. E-mail is about the only way I contact anyone.

How do you "Steal brochures,I took about 5 from him,his collection was very sad I got those from many other places,they removed my thread for some weird reason,heres the quote:

Personally the only person who should be banned from anywhere is you 76scs. You know all the info you have was taken. You even tried to take my exhaust video from photobucket to probably claim it is the exhaust on your dad's truck. To say Mil1ion's collection of information is sad is the dumbest thing I've heard in awhile. Mil1ion is a great guy with a lot of information. You should think before you say anything.

How many people have you asked permission for to use a photo or brochure or even a video to repost. It's one thing to copy something to use for your own personal use, but to repost and say it's yours ("All my 73-79 Ford Truck Brochures), is just wrong. You don't make many friends that way, all you do is loose any kind of trust between you and fellow members.
