My rebuild thread w/ lots of pictures

Been a while here, but here's an update. It's been running fine, but the wipers have never worked, and blinkers kind of work. So it was time to address those issues.I spent time pulling the dash and cluster apart, and found just some corroded wire and connectors on the blinker relay. The...

New LMC steel chrome grill shell

Well, they probably buy from the suppliers who make them, who do have the old tooling. A slight mis-truth?

New LMC steel chrome grill shell

Wow very nice. No trouble with LMC here, and I'm not surprised DC doesn't make any parts. In this day and age it costs mucho $$ to buy the machines and tooling to stamp and machine, and the ROI wouldn't make it feasible for anyone new to start producing old parts. So, LMC and DC (etc.) are...

My rebuild thread w/ lots of pictures

Thanks all!Since I needed to get it out of the driveway to make room for my VW bus project, I had to finish up the floor and get the seat belts back in, and reinstall the shifters - I threw in a couple of cheap floor mats too:Floor installed, just a few small wrinkles and creases that should...

My rebuild thread w/ lots of pictures

Thanks! So did I, but that was one full coat put on with a foam brush. If it's as tough as I hear, one coat should do the trick. It sure doesn't wear off your skin very quickly...Oh and the next job I need to work on the driver side kingpin assembly :hammer:

Not sure where I scraped that from, but somewhere along the line, I'm am sure you hand your hands on it and it's in the "Mil1ion Technical Library". Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right smilieFordlogo

My rebuild thread w/ lots of pictures

Just a small update: I finally found some used F250 front springs. So I tore into the front drivers side, and found that the bushings on the rear shackle were gone and worn down to the metal, hence the lean on the drivers side. So, the newer leaf is in the truck, and needs to be buttoned up...

My truck should have been free!

Dang, nice looking truck! Sounds like regular things a non-enthusiast would do to a 30+ old vehicle to keep it running - it's a good thing it's in your hands now.I had a similar situation...the farmer I got mine from rolled my truck off his flatbed, and I'm glad I had a flat driveway, because...

    Still Overheating

Ah, thx Dennis - we need some cliff notes here! :)Well, if he runs no thermo and the top hose is still cool, then he must have some sort of blockage in the coolant passages somewhere. Maybe reverse flush the block and the blockage will come out?

    Still Overheating

I have a little input: I did have exactly the same issue after a rebuild - it was blowing steam and everything. I found that the thermo I bought was bad (did not open in boiling water) and I had accidentally installed it in reverse. I bought the cheap thermo from Napa, and returned/exchanged...

    Front bumper bolt size

FYI and for the archives, the size I used was a grade 5 carriage bolt - 1.5in long, 3/8 diameter, with 1 nut and 1 lock washer.

What bucket seats will fit a 73-79?

Thanks for the input guys - I think I will go ahead with getting them and see how it goes!

What bucket seats will fit a 73-79?

I could get them for $100 or less depending on how bad he wants to get rid of them. They look clean, and he told me no rips or tears.

What bucket seats will fit a 73-79?

So very true! But...I'm limited...I don't have a welder, and I have basic tools like an angle/bench grinder and basic air tools. I can drill holes no problem! I'm just hoping they will sit on the cab floor OK without modding, and I don't want a set of seats sitting around I can't use.

What bucket seats will fit a 73-79?

I found a local seller with a 40/20/40 split from a 96 F250 for sale pretty cheap. I'm thinking of picking them up to put in my highboy, but I was wondering what other guys have done. I've searched and found some info, but I guess I'm wondering if there is more of you guys out there...For...

    Front bumper bolt size

Can anyone give me the size of the front bumper bolts without bumper pads? Do they need to be carriage bolts, or could I use a standard bolt?I want to bolt on my bumper, but all I have are the bolts from the PO's brush guard, which I will put on later.:)

Best place for replacement coils and leafs?

Found this post during a search...and I'm going to bring it back from the dead.I need to replace my sagging drivers side leaf spring, but the local truck supply shops have new springs for $250 each. 0_oI really only need one spring, but I hesitate to buy used or from a junkyard because I...

Yes, my timing mark on the balancer looks something like this with each mark an interval of 2 degrees:ATDC 10 | | | | 0 | | | | 10 | | | | 20 BTDC _____________T/C_____________________Is there a problem or does something not make sense? The rubber seems to be solid (no apparant slippage)...

Holley 3310 running rich --- help?

Great advice. All the work was done with it in my driveway, and not on the road. The plugs were a dry black, and new, but haven't been cleaned or replaced since I have been messing with the first original 2bbl I had on it. I pretty much slapped a new 4bbl intake and this used carb I got for...
