So, this rig I just saw this morning popped up for sale in Maine and I've seen this thing (and even posted some pics from car shows) is pretty decked and chromed out! I'm not 100% crazy about it though, but am totally in love with all the chrome in the engine and the fiberglass tonneau which I want for mine. I think the wheels are too big too. Don't care for the grill or big mirrors. And I've never been a fan of cab lights (sorry Doug!). The chrome on the bottom I don't care for.

Wonder what he wants for it. It's not in any of the local publication listings, so maybe he's just trying ebay.

Oh btw, this rig beat me at 2 car show events where I came in 2nd in the truck classes at two of the biggest shows in Maine.

Not a bad looking truck and I can appreciate all the work that went in to it...but there's just too much going on with it for me...it just looks 'busy'...if that makes sense. Love the frenched in antenna though. Side question though...why does it have such a hellacious rake...with a 12" lift no less???

Same here Ben....busy is just busyness and hard to enjoy the truck as a whole when you got a million things going on....that's just me speaking and my opinion.

The antenna thing is cool (it's electric, goes up and down) and he has electric windows.

Also, no one makes an aftermarket booster and master cylinder for our dents in chrome, so I asked this guy how he got his chromed and he said he put in a chevy one, which can be purchased anywhere in chrome. :suspicious:

ALL THAT MONEY IN THIS RIG AND HE DIDN'T SPRING FOR AC? WTH? 'wtf'

You sure is a stick shift? It aint got a clutch pedal???

Unless hes the master at floating gears id say thats a auto with a floor shift.

Not a bad truck....way to showey for my tastes.
UPDATE....actually it definatly is an auto...it says in the description its a 700R4. How he adapated a 700R4 to a 360 ill never know...

So Ben, first, wth is a hydroboost?

Second, I knew they can chrome a bunch of things, but a booster and m/c too? And it'll still be functional? That's cool!

The builders of my dent chromed the oil dipstick....love that! Yes, the entire thing, not just the top handle! :wasntme:

I can't see a clutch either....but I can definitely see the shifter as well as the 4wd shifter on the floor in 3 different pictures of the cab. Why would this be?

And I'm with you and Ben....way too busy!

So Ben, first, wth is a hydroboost?:

Hydroboost is braking system found in 80/90's Fords. The 78/9 350 booster/mc and tbird calipers was popular swap for added braking power in our dents, but the hb swap is becoming more popular. It costs the same and is a better system.

You have to go through an independent shop, but you can get anything chromed. This was a topic in another thread a while ago, there was a shop on a couple of the 'car tv shows' that will chrome anything...and I posted their link. Can't remember the thread or shop name, but they had a price breakdown of costs...but the plating wasn't outrageously priced.

Cool write up on the swap...thanks...I do remember that thread now. I was thinking that chroming something might affect it's functionality (like the booster and m/c), but sounds like it won't.

That is a very nice truck. However, Ford did not offer a 460 engine on a 4x4 truck in 1979. The VIN indicates the engine is a 460 motor(J), so I'm guessing that a 2WD body (which did come with a 460) was dropped onto a 4WD frame?

However it was done, something doesn't quite match up.

The guy claims he has the original bill of sale listing the motor as a factory 460??????????

However, it is STILL a very nice truck.

I thought the 460 was available in 79, but it was 80-82 when the 400 was top of the heap??? Ive seen other 794x4's with 460s....
