You guys have NO idea how tempted I am. If he still has it this coming weekend, I may just take the two hour ride to TC to check it out, see if it`s all the pictures say it is.
That plow has probably been on it since new. It`s an all hydraulic Meyers. It`s probably only plowed a personal driveway. Judging by the fact that it has fresh paint and the truck looks pretty nice, it`s led a pretty easy life.
As to whether or not plowing ruins a truck, sure, having a plow puts more strain on them, but if you don`t plow like an idiot and abuse your stuff, all your doing is working them. Drive them stupid and you`ll break all kinds of cool chit. They are still just trucks, not dozers. A half ton with a factory plow package didn`t come with anything more than a Dana 44.
As far as manual vs auto, that is a personal call that is dependant on the type of plowing you do. I`ve plowed with both, and am just as fast either way. But if you are doing commercial plowing I would stick with an auto to ease driver fatigue.
What`s the matter Buzz, an 8 hour one way road trip isn`t local enough?
