That last one is cool looking, Anthony. But still, it's not the style of soft top tonneau I want. Chances are I'm just going to get one like the one I posted up top and then a soft tonneau I like. smilietease

Its gonna be tough to find a box that will go all the way to the bedrail and flush.. You have to take into account the Wheel Wells.. Transfer Flow gets by it because they can tweak the volume of the toolbox.. In a sense, fluid volume isn't as big an issue as cu.ft. for Tools..

Most of the inbed tool chests are only going to be bout as wide as the wheel wells.. If you find one let me know.. I've been looking myself, but my problem is the Wheel Wells :( and having Stacks now..

Anthony, I can't use an over the rail style because I want to be able to put my camper shell on WITH the toolbox:

And Storm, these toolboxes DO exist. I've seen them in several trucks before.

Just buy a gangbox from GreenLee or Jobox......bout the sameprice and ALOT more rugged.....I think alotta the people use the slimline boxes because a) easier to access the latches and b) have you looked in the rearview mirro of the new F-150's with a standard Toolbox?

They do have in bed boxes. You will have to make legs props to make even with top bed. I had 1 on last truck

Hey Storm, isn't this what you're talking about? That would be flush mounted.. no? You confused me, lol.
i think it depends on the dimensions. he's saying some would be built to fit between the wheel-wells, not to touch the side of the bedrails. ...just depends on the box

The one I'm looking for will sit IN FRONT of the wheel wells, its not going to be deep enough to interfere with them... Same as one of the over-the-rail boxes.

i never understood the point of these - y not just get a "tool chest" or one that doesn't go over the rails. only advantage i can think of is it'd be a little easier to secure to the bed. is that the only reason/advantage

actually i have that same exact one but its black diamond plate. the advantage for me is that still mounts on the bed rails BUT is even with the bottom of the rear window so you loose no visibility with it and it has the 2 small sections where it is above the bedrail where you mount it so i can put small stuff by it self. plus you can still put stuff under the box like 2x4's, plywood, pieces of metal, spare tire and other stuff thats long that would normally fit in your bed without the tool box in the bed.

I think you sufficiently answered his question, well done. Those little compartments would definitely be handy. You should see my glove box.

Travis you are right about one thing. I'm NOT excited about losing the extra length in the bed if I wanted to haul something long... I like the idea of having space UNDER the box... The tool chest wouldn't offer that feature.

yea i put stuff like gas cans and my spare tire up under the tool box..and all te trash that makes the bed of the truck look unsightly

i couldnt paralel park my truck when i took my driving test. Not because the box was there. but because they made th space to small. both the space between the cones and the cones from the buidling.

I went out there and showed them. That if i parked there that my truck would be setting on the cones and that i would hit the building before i got it parked. My truck stuck out about a foot passed the cones where the road would be....

so its not the box. I use my mirrors more than anything. Unless i gotta thread a needle then i look out the back window and my mirrors.
