where does the chip plug into? if its the one that plugs into the air intake, it doesnt do anything, just a resistor
Into the AIR INTAKE?! LOL! Cmon Brian, I'm not that stupid. I've never even heard of something like that...

This is a performance chip that piggypacks onto the ECU. When you remove the ECU there is an extra port on the back side where you can plug in performance chips.

I just picked up the chip-- I'll get some pics of it up on here shortly.

lol i know.. the chips im reffering to are the "ebay specials" that plug in at the MAF.. just a resistor, does virtually nothing.. and you can make one easily too.

ive never seen the ECU on these.. as far as computers go in cars, im more familiar with OBDII and using the IDS to connect to the PCM and DCM..

btw, i love my new job, i learn a lot of lingo lol

The port is there for programing from the factory am i right? Not designed for aftermarket. Make sure you get that sealant off of the computer board before you plug the chip in. If not then it may not work right or work at all..

Yeah the directions stress about 4928734 times that you have to remove all the material from the contacts on the connector with a blade or emory cloth. I'll make sure to do that ;)

While you've got it apart, Chris, you might do well to remove that coating the factory leaves on there...

Hey Aaron, READ THE THREAD! Chip can't go in until I burn the rest of this 87 fuel. I've got more than half a tank left. Probably won't be for another week or two with my driving habits smilietease

Nah Tony, no dual tanks because my truck started as a single cab short bed 4x4, which I don't believe Ford put dual tanks in because of a lack of room under the bed for the midship tank. Mike's Centurion is the same way-- single tank.

Squirt some 91 in there with what you got, add some octane booster and get with the donuts already.

And next time don't start a thread till your ready to give us some results. smiliestirthepot

On a side note I wish I could go a week and a half on HALF a tank. I'm not sure I can go half a week on a full tank with all the driving I do...

P.S. You know I'm just messin with ya!

Pics of the chip & packaging... The chip has some scotch tape stuck to it from when he had it taped to the ECU.
