Yeah Duncan I will go that route. Hella light are not in the budget.

Hi Cliff, the sealed beam Silverstars are still around $40.00 each over here, so that's $80.00. The Hellas were $100.00, so for not much more, I would go with the later :) Even the Nighthawk sealed beam 6054's are around the $35-$40 each.

Silverstars burn up very quickly. You'll spend more on those bulbs over time than you will on Hella.

Depends which lights you refer Ryan. The add on lights are generally available, but I haven't seen just Hella bulbs available on the shelf other than what you would mount on a light bar.Cliff, I did find that Autozone can order them, if you are talking about those upgrade light inserts with the replaceable bulb. If you are talking about the rectangular light, I don't know where to find them.

H4 will be the bulb number you are looking for, any letter other than that are just the manufacturer's add on. Like say the Sylvania Silver Star, the number is a H4 ST, the extravisions are H4 XV. It is only the replacement bulb, not the rest of the light. They likely mention it due to it being the replacement bulb for that light setup.

Not been my experience at all...in the bikes, the quad, the 750 and 350...in fact the ones in the 750 were installed in 2006.
Hella makes the housing....chances are they are an Osram lamp.

I spent some time polishing on one wheel. Came out better than I expected. Not perfect but looks good for a driver.

Before after all the sanding.

Cliff, StylinTrucks.com has the exact same H4 Hella replacement that I have, and I've dealt with Stylin numerous times, and shipping is cheap. The H4 Hellas with the lens only are about $46.00 each at StylinTrucks!! but you will still need to get the bulbs. So your total should be a bit less than $100.00.

Likely not as bright as the H$ bulb and lens combo, but I did the relay conversion on my 86 to take battery power straight to the headlights themselves, which helps with the volt drop of the harness. Helped quite a bit.

That would be one modification I won't try. Me and wiring don't get along and I can't read the drawings.

It is actually pretty simple, 4 wires. I added a little difficulty in using relays I took from junk vehicles. You take a wire from the factory harness for low and high individually, use them to turn the relays on, then the wire out of the relay goes to the headlight. Then you have a wire to the battery, and one to ground.
