It can be adjusted. I don't know the history of the truck, perhaps the previous owner adjusted it to keep it from dying to compensate for an idle problem rather than fix it. Or the cable could just be sticking open further than normal.

If that isn't the problem, I don't know what to do, you're getting too much air in the engine, and that will mean the truck delivers too much fuel.

Check your IAC to see it its working. Unplug it and the engine should stumble.

I will look tomorrow and see how to reset the idle screw.

Randy I started my truck and unplugged the IAC it ran smoothly,the idel dropped a little plugged it back up while it was running and the idle went up. I cleaned the IAC 2 days with carb cleaner.

If the IAC is plugged and the engine stumbles does that mean it's bad?

No, it should stumble without it.

Randy was going down the right road, if it's not the throttle and the IAC checks out fine, you might be looking at a vacuum leak. That's very likely since you just took it all apart and put it back together.

I did unplug it and nothing changed
