ok guys... i am working on my truck right now and rebuilding the top end...

and now that i ran into some issues im gonna delete some stuff while i got the time...

what all can i delete as far as the smog stuff go?

do i just disconnect the smog pump and plug the lines? or what?

also, whats yalls thoughts on putting a smaller belt on to also bypass the A/C for the fall, winter, and spring.... and then in the summer time pop the belt back on and have my Air conditioning back....

i need some tips...

I will tell you that I have no vac lines on anything other than the blend door, brake booster, FPR and EGR. Mind you, my thermactor tubes are gone, my vaccum coffee can thing is gone and my EGR is blocked off my a MTN dew can in between it and the intake...

i dont think you can bypass a/c but u have to get a delete pully for the a/c a shorter belt only works when deleting the smog not a/c i tried it once it didnt work for me maybe you will get lucky

just remove the smog pump its very easy to get out

Ask Dennis (Mil1on) he or some one here will have a vacuum line diagrams.

Are you reusing your old heads? Lines for your smog pump runs to the back of each heads correct?

GT40's DO have the provisions for the thermactor crossover tube....need to plug em....IIRC (it's been awhile) they are 9/16 Course thread about an inch long.(the makeshift plugs)

You will need to look. If the heads came off a Explorer they might. Mustags I don't know. You can also do a EGR delete. I have read that it helps with performance. Also go with a pre 72 timing gear set that will advance your timing.
Let me check my book in ignitions which set up do you have? If it's a TFI dist there is a way to mod them for better spark and timing. Do you have SD or MAF?

Megasquirt is a good and cheap system to help you make changes to your program.

just make sure when you pull all this smog stuff off you do it correctly... All this smog crap is so integrated into the engine that just ripping it off can hurt MPG's.

I agree, I'm sure my mileage would go up if I did the proper things to eliminate that stuff.....any thoughts on that karter short of a TwEECer or Moates system?

No.. removing the smog system and bypassing the AC compressor won't make "More Powa". The AC compressor is bypassed anyway when the AC is off.. it has a clutch on it, and the smog pump really puts very little load on the motor so removing it won't make a noticable difference. Deleteing the smog system can be done without affecting engine operation though, just make sure the TAB and TAD solenoids remain electrically connected and the vacuum lines feeding the diverter solenoids are plugged or removed.

I seem to remember that by just bypassing the smog pump with a shorter belt can cause problems. From the looks of this diagram, your tensioner would probably not be able to do it's job (to put tension in the belt) if you were to bypass the smog pump:

EDIT: Looking at that diagram more-- I don't think its the same as my belt routing. I think my tensioner is in a different spot... But look at your setup and examine the effects of the new belt route on your pulley contact.
