Fair enough-- just take a close look at your setup and make sure that bypassing the pulley won't deprive another pulley of precious contact area.

No.. removing the smog system and bypassing the AC compressor won't make
"More Powa". The AC compressor is bypassed anyway when the AC is off.. it
has a clutch on it, and the smog pump really puts very little load on the motor
so removing it won't make a noticable difference. Deleteing the smog system
can be done without affecting engine operation though, just make sure the
TAB and TAD solenoids remain electrically connected and the vacuum lines
feeding the diverter solenoids are plugged or removed.
x2 :)

Here's another way to keep the TAB and TAD "connected"...

...they are about 75 ohms each, so 100 ohms isn't far enough off to matter.

Hang onto all your "smog stuff" because laws and requirements change.

most counties there arent... like Shelby County (Memphis), Davidson (Nashville), Rutherford, and several other surrounding counties do have emmisions along with whatever counties Knoxville and Chattanooga are also in that...

Here we have an inspection and you need to have all factory smog equipment though if you gut the cat I doubt you aren't going to get away with it.

Bypassing your a/c won't do anything like stated. It's nice to have more power and all that but I'm probably in the minority of saying this but why don't you just get the truck back together and not worry about deleting the smog stuff? I don't think you are going to gain much by doing it honestly. If you are already worried about certain vacuum lines and what they do this is probably a mod you might want to wait on. Why be stranded without a vehicle longer because of something that isn't going to give you a noticable difference? The air pump doesn't put a big load on the engine. I don't think any of the effort you are going to put into figuring out different belts is going to be worth it. You didn't want to get exhaust bolts because measuring them would take time. How fast do you think you are going to find the right shorter belt? Not trying to be a jerk or anything, but I think you are going to waste a bunch of time on this.

nah finding the right size belt isn't hard... i did it when getting a new belt for the 88... its smog stuff had been deleted by the PO...

well the bolts were gonna take long enough that i wouldnt have been able to get it done last weekend... so because this extra time im doing something i've been wanting to do, which is get rid of all the smog stuff...
