remote locks

My mom's '00 X's d-side remote lock has gone on the fritz and needs fixed, it'll lock but won't unlock with the remote or even the key.

What do I need to do to fix this and is it a challenge?

Well, if it won't unlock even with the key, then it must be a mechanical issue and not just electrical. Try taking off the door panel and just taking a look. It could be as simple as a lock rod that has come off. If not that, then you could try using some WD-40 to see if it's just sticking.

like todd said, some of them have lock rods that may have come unmounted, and my truck one time had a cable for the door handle that needed to be retightened.

The passenger rear door on my 01 X quit opening from the inside. Like it was on the child safety thing. It was not. What we found when we removed the door panel was that one of the rods had a slight b ow (changes to a smilie if I leave it one word) in it. I guess somone pulled really hard!
