Oh I'm positive I could pass the sniffer without my emissions equipment. But the visual inspection will get a big giant FAIL. That's why I can't install longtube headers. Sure it'll pass the sniffer but when they SEE the headers it's a no go unless they're CA Certified.

I think I could get LT's to pass. Id like to see. I passed NJ with 36's sticking out like 2" from the fender line. Thats a super no go here in NJ.

Finally finished off the swap today. Got some Autolite Double Plats and gapped them to .55. MSD calles for .50-.60 for our compression range. Didnt run it or drive it yet. Also did the plugs on my stang. Gapped to the same. Anyone want some Autolite coppers with like 5K on them lol.

Chris didn't anyone ever tell you NEVER to use platinum plugs on these engines?

Why not?

And more importantly, why are Fords so damn picky about plugs? Mine'll eat anything but dual-plats in a hurry...

I read tons of threads on the other site from guys that had toasted their plat plugs within 5k miles of putting them in... Had pictures of the plugs on the couple of those threads and they were TOASTY. It was unanimous that the only safe bet with these engines is a Motorcraft copper plug.

yea i think I ran plats in my truck once...that's when i switched to autolite coppers...wish i had pics of the old ones...it ate em down reeeal bad...then I threw in the NGK's and the idle got alot smoother......plus the ngk's are only like 3 cents for than the motorcraft coppers.....
