new 6.0 tools

Ford has issued new tools to help with the diagnostics of 6.0 turbo problems. From what I understand, its a new cable for the IDS, and a couple of tools to diagnose the vgt. Shipments are supposed to start to the dealerships today (june 29). I'll let you know more when I find out.

The tools wouldn't work with the 6.4 because of the radical difference in the two set ups in turbos. And surely, Ford wouldn't issue tools so late that there wouldn't be any reason to use them (yeah, right!). How many times have you used the 7.3 injector testers, Bowtie?

Probably just some electronic testing tools that'll show weather or not some idiot put a programmer on his truck. The fools that do those mods, sheesh!!

No I was just curious. Seems to me that Ford wouldn't be issueing new tools for the 6.0, instead concentrating on the 6.4.

It's just a tool that helps to determine if the VGT is stuck. There are other tried and tested ways to do the same thing. I have recieved it, but have yet to have the need to try it out.

Its easier than using a mirror to look in that hole on top, aint it?

I pull the plug on the back side of the solenoid and try to move the actuator with a magnet. It was at one time an accepted test by the powers that be, but is no longer for some reason.
