Hi I'm not sure where on this forum to post, as i am new here. I have a 1987 f250 that i have been working on. it was modified to hold a semi fuel tank in the bed and deleted the fuel tanks. i know the mechanical fuel pump is for duel tanks, so the guy put an electric fuel pump on it, is there any way to go back to mechanical and make this work? if so i need some help making this work. otherwise i have to rewire the fuel pump and i want to do it right as it is no longer working the way he ran it. it is a 460 cu in. currently trying to redo the timing cover gasket and that has been a pain so that has been my primary focus. any advice on this as well would be greatly appreciated. another issue i have is that the truck doesn't like to down shift its a manual, i have adjusted the clutch but still doesn't seem to help. new clutch needed maybe? last issue i keep having to deal with is the brake lights. i have replaced the sensor x2 on the pedal assembly, I'm wondering if I'm shorting out? and any advice on fixing or repairing the turn signal in the column it doesn't click and sound like the mechanism broke. i have no clue how to tear into the column. I am currently recovering from back surgery so it will be a minute before i get on this list. thanks!

Even factory the fuel pump was electric, even with a carb. The selector valve would be the only thing that would have been different for a carb if anything. It should have been removed or at minimum bypassed due to no tanks. If it pumps fuel, I wouldn't mess with it. Also not sure you can physically get the mechanical pump to clear the frame as the factory didn't use one. Set up a relay to turn on when the ignition is powered, and then it will be off when the key is off.

Clutch could be due to wear, could be throw out, arm, hydraulic. The master cylinder rod bushing could be worn out as well.

If your turn signal is bad, it can cause issues with the brake lights as they go through the turn signal switch, causing the interruption you see when you have the brakes on and turn signal. It is a bit of work to replace, as you have to take the steering wheel off, then the lock plate, and feed the wiring though the inside of the column.

I think the owner before me put in an older 460, i pulled a mechanical fuel pump off the timing cover when changing gaskets. thanks for the advice on the other stuff. ill look into the clutch and turn signals with a better direction now.
