I thought that truck would have the one piece headlights, I can't remember what my 80 had its bin so long since I messed with it -_-

Hi tedrow42, it did come with the standard sealed beam headlamps, 6054's, but I wanted a modern lens that allows you to just replace the bulb. And there's the cool factor with the Hellas :)

Well got a little bad news on the dash clusterthe tach, gas gauge, oil gauge doesn't work. So I had my son take the circuit board off and gently clean it with ketchup and Q Tips. Which a trick I read here some where.
It didn't help so my old one is going back in.

Thanks primetime,it was worth a try.I had fun working on it and learned how to do a couple of things on it.

Hi Cliff, just got in. OK, so lets look into this. Do you know what year the cluster that primetime gave you is. The tach swap works from 1982 to 1986, just a plug and play option. There is a number on the printed circuit board to have the correct one, I will post the picture here now.

what is the condition of the circuit board with the tach, they are fragile! when you plugged it in, did you here the factory connector click so that it was locked in?

Yes it clicked on both sides. other 2 gauges worked fine.

I could see if the tach wouldn't work, because sometimes people mess with the wiring harness, but to have 2 gauges work and not the others, I'll have to do some further looking into for you Cliff. I don't want you to be discouraged, you did such a nice job on it. You could try using your gauges and swap them to the circuit board with the tach and see what happens. Be sure not to over tighten the little nuts or you will break the circuit!!!

It's worth a shot. None of the blubs worked across the top. but the ones behind the gauges worked fine. And I switched bulbs too same results.

ah, sounds like bad connections at the terminals where the nuts attach, they're such a fragile connection. Try redoing all the terminals again, and check for any signs of wear, that soft copper gets worn out. When I did my swap, a few of the lights didn't work too, so I re checked the little nuts and it solved the problem. Hope that that is your case Cliff

I took the circuit completely off got some ketchup and q tips and cleaned all the dirt and corrosion completely. I got all the gauges and lights working. The tach must be bad nothing out of it.
