New plugs, wires, timing belt, water pump. Other than that, it's never been touched. The water pump was just cuz it was off for the timing belt, and it had 215k on it...
Never once stranded me, and the P.O. only had it on the back of a tow-truck once, and that was the fault of a tire shop that forgot to tighten some lug nuts.
Slow, and noisy (not the good kind, either), but efficient and dead reliable.
(Oh, yeah- Mobil1 synthetic every 5k since new. Yeah, I'm sure I'm throwing away good oil. I don't care. It's worked good so far, I ain't gonna stop now.)
I had a 89 Mustang 2.3 with over 200k on it. My wife overheated it till it stoped running. I put a new water pump and T-stat in it and fired it up. Still runs to this day, so i've been told by the person I gave it to.
Personally, the two 2.3's I had didn't treat me very well...the Escorts(early 80's ) also didn't do too well... When it comes to cars, the Fords and I just haven't gotten along... Diesel trucks have been very good though.
