For the record, this is exactly the switch I have:

http://broncograveyard.com/bronco/i-24410-door-jamb-switch-1975-96.html

Plus two bare wires.

Yep, should have a female receptacle on the trucks wiring harness to plug directly into that switch. I can check the remnants of scrappy but I think it is all part of the harness. If they unplug from the harness I'll let ya know.

The next thing your going to want to know is why the new one is so much longer then the old one.

Well I did notice the one in Red was different and longer.

Thanks...and I found all the pieces. The plug was ripped out of the back side of the switch and the wires were cut from the other side. Gonna take some pics of what I actually have when the rain dies down.

Got to thinking, how do you know when a fan clutch starts going out? I don't have this problem, but was wondering what the beginning symptoms would be? Just not cooling at higher rpm?

gsxr1238

Be fast.....or be last.
Usually, you see a higher coolant temperature than normal at low vehicle speeds. If the fan is free-wheeling,it won't pull air at low speed. When the vehicle comes up to speed, then you have the air flow to the radiator again.

If you have the balls, grab the fan and if it stops spinning the clutch works.

J/K!!! however I did see someone do this before. I would not actually recommend doing this.

I think you've got that wrong.

It's possible. It could be if it stops it is no good. I've never personally tried it since I like having 10 fingers ( or for you smartazzes 8 fingers and 2 thumbs).

Check for leaking oil from it first.

If it sounds like a jet taking off when you rev it.... when it is cold..then the fan clutch is shot

Anyone else get like me when one of your rigs is down? The Bronco has been down for about a week, and couldn't find anything wrong...my guess is still dizzy related though. Still haven't gotten it back together yet, due to laziness, weather and other things getting in the way. But geezus, I'm feeling anxious and my stomach is in knots because I can't stand having it down. It just doesn't feel right and it's stressing me out....hahaha.

Well, I've been fortunate enough to not have any issues to put my children off of the road. But, I will have occasional painting sprees or tear down the truck for cleaning every now and then... then not get it back together for a week or so. It kills me! Sometimes, I can't sleep because I'm thinking of the truck too much.

Example: I took off the hood latch stuffs for a new coat of paint the other week. The grille had to come off too. The latch stuff is back on (Can't drive if hood isn't latched!) but the grille sits in the garage until the weather will let me put it on.

It does get frustrating, but it could always be worse.

True...I think it's more an issue of being anxious and nervous with having Red out. She's never been uncovered this long...and I think that's the main thing. Usually she's pulled out for a good wash and wax...sometimes a detail, then put back in. Then pulled out for some cruising or a parade. Then put back in. So she's experienced baking sun, harsh rain and an extra 500 miles on the odometer...she's not used to that...haha.

Trucks are meant to be driven so suck it up and enjoy it!! :)

I picked up a few older shop manuals 71-73 and was just looking through one at the pictures and diagrams. Back in the early seventies they must have had people drawing all these pics and diagrams. My 7 year old couldn't get why they didn't use a computers.

Not sure yet. Maybe a few cruise nights that usually happen around here. In Sept. there is always a car show to help raise money for children with down syndrome and I usually enter that because the entry fee goes to help the children. I may also go on a small road trip with it.
