Fact or Fiction

Hello, I found a C6 from a 302 Mustang but the man said that I would have to use a flex plate fropm a 300 motor because it is balanced internally and should have no balance weights on the flywheel. He said the crankshaft was balanced on the 300 and the 302 flywheel would cause problems. Even tho I am not smart about the 300 motor that sounds far fetched to me. Is this for real or not. Thanks

no, u shouldn't put a 302 flexplate/flywheel on a 300. like said above, the tranny will work

Some engines were Internally balanced and externally balanced

IIRC, the 164 tooth flexplate was the same on both engines.

Do you have the vintage of the engine and transmission ?

Hello, I have decided to buy a rebuilt trans. since I cannot get one from any one I can trust. I am going to put an ad on the classified for a flex plate for my 1985 truck since I cannot be sure of one out of a junk yard. E-bay has several but I do not know the part number. I only want to do this changeover one time. does any one recomend a floor shift for the C6 so I will not have to change the steering col and dash

as far as a shifter goes, i used a B&M light truck Mega shifter on my 79 mounted to the floor.its pretty staight forward as far as instilation & cable driven.there is a pic in my gallery of it installed.

In my own world
5.0 flex plate won't bolt up on a 4.9. Different bolt pattern
