electronic ignition to points

would it be easy to switch from electronic ignition to points, or would you have to replace the whole distributor? 77 f-150 351m

My bad I mis read your post, my guess is it'd be easyest to change out the dizzy.

do you know if an older distributor with points would fit? since they didn't have the 351m I guess it might be hard to get one that would fit.

A points 351m or 400 should work.

what I meant was that the 351m didn't exist until 76 or 77 and all the trucks made at that time probably had the electronic ignition, so I would have to get a distributor from an older vehicle.

Not saying that ain't 100% true!
But.

Summit's data base is really screwed up. :/

One part that messed with me a couple years ago messed with another
guy over a year later and I made a point of explaining it to them, but I
guess I was talking into their bad ear? LOL Heck, they paid shipping
back too and still didn't care.

Start checking close and you'll see many examples for yourself.

I knew someone was going to ask that. If you must know all my family ever talks about is end of the world type stuff and how all the electronics are going to stop working, And how the only cars that would work would be those with points. So I thought it wouldn't hurt to have the parts around I would need to convert my truck just in case.

I figure if I'm close enough to a nuclear blast that the EMP knocks out the electronics in my truck my testicles falling off from radiation would be a bigger concern than driving to the store for a pack of smokes.

460 dizzy's are the same, find one from a Lincoln pre 74.

No kidding, I did read the posts. The 460 Dizzy will work in a 400/351M. There was not a 400/351M that was factory points, so you have to get one from an older 460.

If you can find one, a dizzy from a 351C I would think would also trade, the mechanical advance may be set a bit different on the 460 distributor. Housing, cam gear and oil pump drive are the same though.
