How long were you out on the water?
We tried to avoid the mothers day crowd (and successfully did so) by dropping the boat in the water around 4pm. The weather was gorgeous. My brother putted the boat around with my mom and sister and I followed on the Waverunner (he towed the waverunner to the lake). Yeah it sounds backwards for the PSD to tow the waverunner and my gasser towing the 7000# boat  But I wanted to put my truck to the test and this seemed like the perfect opportunity since it was a short trip.

We dropped them in the water at around 4pm, scooted around for about an hour and then found a nice little alcove where we dropped anchor and I got on the boat and we had beers and sandwiches. Hung there are enjoyed each other's company for a while (bout an hour) then pulled up the anchor and headed back to the ramp. I think we pulled up the boat and waverunner around 7pm, give or take. My mom couldn't stop talkin about how great of a Mother's Day it was.

Family boat?

Your mom ever sell that gorgeous house or she still living there?
Yeah I suppose you could call it a family boat. My mom boat it as a gift for my brother and I, after my dad died and we had to sell the big boat. We were gettin' the fever to be on the water and this boat came up for a STEAL so my mom bought it for us. Doesn't mean anything for it to belong to Casey or I or both of us... We all use it as a family.

And the house is no longer on the market. That's a real long and somewhat personal story but my mom ended up moving back up to Newcastle and taking it off the market. I'm very happy about it and I think everyone else is too.

Yeah, haha. :)

How long is that boat of yours Chris? My 300 pulls our 20ft boat and single axle trailer pretty decently, and even ran good over the sierras (we went to Pyramid Lake). The low end torque helps a ton.

Oh, and unplugging the surge brakes might have been an intellegent move... smilieneenar
The boat is a hair under 26 feet. But keep in mind that length is not the only factor. Your 20ft boat could easily weight 3-4k depending on the construction and how it's equipped (and how the trailer is constructed too). This heavy biotch of a boat worked my 5.8 pretty damned good. She pulled it great but I definitely wouldn't be able to drive it up to Tahoe the way my brother's truck does. I'd bog all the way up the hills.

Aside from the backup the boat up the driveway for 30+ minutes 'smiliedoh' It stayed nice and cool the entire time. I was extremely pleased with that. The only time I heard the fan cycle on was when I was idling on the boat ramp waiting for my brother to hook or unhook the boat. I never saw the coolant needle move at all. Trans temps hovered around 150-170* while the truck was cruising through the hills (small rural roads on the way back to the house).

Chris I know anyone who uses an e-fan is crazy, but it would be something to consider, put a small pusher fan on the tranny cooler. Set it up either thermostat or manual control!!!
