^^^If I was driving minimally in the city or had a sports car, I'd agree with you Alvin. But geez....when you never get out of second gear and your starting and stopping constantly, stick shifts annoy me after a while.

I had thought you had meant the rear seal on the trans, my mistake. On the not moving, have you double checked the fluid level? They should have gotten it, but you never know... sure sounds a bit like that is the issue. Otherwise internal pressures aren't what they should be, but the incline vs level sounds like low on fluid.

That's a good call. I'll be sure to check it out tomorrow. You'd think they would have filled it to proper levels when they flushed my system.

Another thing I forgot to mention:

Homeboy at the shop told me I should find an overdrive rod to attach to my tranny because it needs it. I was under the impression the C6 is a 3spd with no O.D.?? Then again, I had a C6 on a 76 F250 (I think it was 76) that I could've sworn had an O.D. lever hooked up to it.

The guy says he's worried that if I stomp on it, I'll put too much wear on the tranny. To tell you the truth, I don't stomp on the pedal. If I pass someone I rarely punch it.

On the AOD's, they have the direct linkage rod like the C6, most likely what they are talking about. It hooks the throttle to the detent arm on the trans. They are essentially correct, in that when you stomp on it, the trans then raises the pressures to keep the clutches clamped tight to prevent slippage. Even half throttle will raise the trans line pressures to give more clamping force. But no, there is no overdrive, just improper terminology.

So I should go scrounging the local salvage yard for the rod?

It would help with trans life, many have been disconnected and/or removed over the years... Seems to me they can also be bought new...
