I'm not a GM fan at all, but this was one beautiful '65 Corvette at the Efland NC car show yesterday:

Anyone notice how Chevy mounted the radio? It was the only way it would fit.

Yes, very interesting!!! As nice as this car is, somebody from another site noticed a major problem with this '65 Corvette...

It was actually a common upgrade, even back then ('67 on up). The spinner hubcaps were notorious for getting curb-rash, and the knock-off alloys that are so commonly seen today were actually a very rare OEM factory option.

Unless functional, (like knock off spinners on Jags) spinner wheelcovers were outlawed on January 1, 1966. This was a part of the US Governments new safety law. Some of the parts that were standardized on that date were: left side rear view mirror, backup lights, and seat belts. Light trucks had a one year grace period.

I know, I know...someone's gonna chime in and say their 1966 Mustang had spinner wire wheel covers (C5OZ-1130-B). The dealers that had spinner covers in stock had one year to return them to Ford. Most ignored the law and put them on cars in stock.

After the 1/1/66 date, Ford cancelled the spinner caps, and replaced them with near identical ones without the spinner. When the law went into effect, the 1963 thru early 1966 spinner covers could no longer be ordered by the dealers from Ford.
