Fatherdoug, Welcome to FTF

btw: The original map maker made a mistake...it should be Broaddus.

The town was named after the Broaddus Ranch.

Bill I shouldn't be surprised by now.......... but your knowledge base is amazing! Can you tell me how Two Dot got it's name - I don't have a clue.

Not that it matters much up here - they still argue whether Bigfork should be one word or two.

BKW, Hello Bill. We have part of the extended Broaddus family living just south of town. I guess they thought the mapmaker could spell, because they now spell their name Broadus.

Originally Twodot = it comes from a local ranchers cattle brand.

The Big Dummy is an Old West historian.

Sign in North Dakota at the MT border:

"Custer was safe till he crossed into Montana."

Somewhat misleading, it was called Montana Territory in 1876, when Custer began his ill-fated ride from Fort Lincoln located near Bismarck, North Dakota Territory.

btw: When Custer left Ft. Lincoln, he left the Gatling Guns behind. Peeps have been arguing ever since June 25, 1876...what would have been the outcome if Custer had taken the guns with him.

My opinion: The outcome would have been the same, he was out numbered 10-1.

Dad and I drove through eastern MT in the summer of '05...up I-25 to Billings or so, then across I-94 to ND, with a night spent in Miles City.

Beautiful area, but I'm not sure I could handle too many winters there...and I live in Maine, which isn't known for pleasant winters, either.

Okay Bill I have question for you.

There is town near Tuscon AZ named: Sells
I believe it is on Reservation Land.

Please tell me how that got its name as I can't find it anywhere.
