89 F250 Starter Problem

After driving for a while (30 minutes or so) and switching the truck off. When I try to start up again the starter acts as if it's dragging, like there's not enough juice from the battery. Checked the battery & it's good, installed new starter, installed new battery post connectors & the problem persists. If I let it set until it cools down a bit the starter will spin over & start with no problem. Anyone have a suggestion.
Thanks

That was a problem with lots of different types of vehicles even back
on the old newsgroups.

Some suggest wrapping them with insulation but I'd try a simple sheet
of metal as a heat shield like they do for catalytic converters and the
rest of the exhaust system after the converters.

Never had the problem myself just read where others were, like-a-jillion
times over ~17 years. :)

Timing is too far advanced. check it with a light, without the spout plugged in. should be around 10*, but check on the emissions label to be sure. My 89 I6 somehow loosens the distributor all by itself, and advances the timing

If your running the old big starter, id try gettin the newer mini starter, I use the 95ish style on my 88 bronk, just gotta run a wire from the pos to the little post, so it knows to crank, newer style has the solenoid mounted on the starter as well as the firewall.
