6.4 Check Engine Light

My nephews company has three '08 6.4's that the check engine lights have come on just this week during the cold weather. They blow big clouds of smoke going down the highway and fuel economy has gone into the crapper. Any ideas?

At first look, I would say the dpf is cracked in each, making a constant regen situation.

The dpfe sensor on the diesel particulate filter can be faulty as well. And, if the incorrect fuel is used, premature filter failure can result, again, causing constant regen.

Sounds like it's stuck in regen.

Did they set codes? I have had two recently with incorrect fuel. Egr valves sooted up.

If all three have been fueled from the same source, I would suspect bad fuel.

Incorrect fuel? Like dyed diesel, or bio diesel? What do you mean by incorrect?

low sulfur instead of ultra low sulfur diesel.

And expecially red died farm fuel.
