Use this to figure out what transmission you have.... The E4OD was NOT the only auto to have a shifter mounted OD button.

Shouldn't be plugged, it needs to vent. It should however have a plastic vent in the hole.

A couple of issues I am rolling around in my head;

Is the leak due to pressure not venting? The motor is fresher and has more torque than the old one. Is that causing the issue?

If I pull the trans and replace the seal without knowing the answer I am wasting my time. The transmission shifts with no problems and smoothly.

It was mentioned about not getting the torque converter in right may be causing an issue. How would this be possible? And it drive down the road like a champ, except for the leak.

If you didn't have the converter in properly, it would have bound up or broke the trans case, been there, done that. Likely what the leak is from is that the seal got disturbed, might have cut the lip or such, and made for a leak. That is why I pretty much always change out the seal while the motor or trans is out.

I drove the truck for 200 to 300 miles before the leak started. I checked the dip stick when the engine was warm and at idle, there was fluid in the hash marks, with some bubbles. Even though it was leaking like a sieve.

I can drive down the road with no abnormal noise or shifting issues. It does seem draggy though.

Probably just not riding on the same spot on the converter or something like that, not sure why they leak, just that it is common to leak after having been disturbed or such when changing a motor.You could try Lucas trans fix, have had some success with it on some leaks, can't hurt anything at this point.

If were comparing apples to apples here, with two exactley the same cars but one has MAF and the other has SD the SD car will be slightly better than the MAF.

Ok I do swaps all time Better MPG sequential injection better throttle response . What I miss ?

The Mustang cam may not be suited to the truck

Yeah, all I've heard only-one-thing was better about SD...
1) simpler so, more reliable for clunky-old trucks

What are -we- missing? :)

I'm fixin' to buy an aftermarket MAF sensor, laptop, Moates QH and
software to run it all, so it's an important topic to my wallet. ;)

Besides the steep learning curve for this dumb old carburetor lover.
