Someone on a Mustang site said the pump cup had to be manually put in the well when putting the float bowl cover on. Just don't see how that is possible, but this is my first carb rebuild....

Was curious about the pump cup on the Holley 1940 carb. Should the cup go all the way into the "well", or should the cup and spring be compressed when the bowl cover assembly is reinstalled? Hoping for the later, as I cannot see how the cup would fit in the well.I can send a message to anyone...
