My brother had this question and since I don't have a clue maybe someone here does. Will a transmission-transfer case from a 98 Expedition with a 5.4 fit a 2000 Superduty with a V10?
Thanks Bill, that is about what I figured. I cut the bronco cross members down by 2 inches on each side and welded them in using a junk tank for a template. New tank should be here tomorrow so all I'll have left to do is go to the junk yard and get a fuel line off a truck with a rear tank.
Just...
I'm gonna try and fit a 78-79 bronco tank. I took the cross members and straps from one today. Have to cut the cross members down to fit. I'll let ya'll know if it works.
Anyone know of a source for a replacement in cab tank? Or of a tank that would fit in the narrow frame of a high boy? Every place I have checked only shows tanks for the rear of the normal width frames and the mid ship tanks for 2X4 trucks. My brother changed the cab and put a 78 cab on it. He...
I acquired an 86 F-150 that had been parked for a couple of years and due to the ethanol gas, the tank and sending unit were rotted out. The truck was a factory 300 6cyl so it was not fuel injected. From a little research, it appears that they changed the sending unit hole in the tank in 85 to...
The 2 flashers can be swapped to see if the problem follows the flasher. I would rule out the bulbs, sockets, and corrosion since the turn signals still work,
I have heard that the engine harness is plug and play as long as you also have the PCM. I was hoping that someone on the site knew that for sure or if that was false.
What I was looking for was the electrical compatibility. He will be moving the engine/trans/transfer case as a unit into the truck. The truck is a 2wd and he is planning on putting a straight axle under it. Some fab is expected. Mainly what issues can anyone forsee in getting it to run.
My brother acquired a 97 Mercury Mountaineer 4X4 with a 5.0. He also has a 99 F-150 with a V6. He wants to move the engine/trans and PCM out of the 97 and put them in the 99. Any ideas what other road blocks/incapatablilties he might encounter?
It would be much easier to just change the towers from a truck that had a 351M or 400. Thats just a bolt on swap. Also the 400 needs to be either out of a car or 2wd as the 4wd pan is different.
I just read your other post about changing the heads. Did you also change the lifters or at least pull them out and compress them? It could be a case where the lifters are stuck in the position they were in with the old heads and with the new heads they are keeping 1 or more valves slightly...
Just press the outer shell sideways a little and it will slide right out. When you get your hand on it it will feel like it is crooked, just push it sideways till it feels straight.
If you find the right pedal assembly, It will actually bring the pedal higher off the floor. Thankfully my donor was just outside my garage when I found out they were different. Glad to hear you got it not only fixed but improved.
If the master cylinder had previously had fluid in it and it was allowed to go dry, I would say that your problem is the master cylinder. The fact that the pedal slowly goes to the floor and you don't have a leak any where also screams master cylinder. If it was just air in the system, it would...
Just a follow up. The speedo gear on the cable is the same for both transmissions since both trucks had the same rear end gear ratio. The gear has what looks like a dowel pin on the end of it that looks like its there to position the gear on the inside of the transmission. What it really does is...
I would also rule out the front seal on the intake. It only seals the top of the crank case to keep oil in and doesn't affect vacuum. The sides (head area) would affect vacuum. I would look closely at the carb. It sounds like it worked fine when the choke wasn't open all the way but got...
I just swapped out a 302 C4 combo and replaced it with a 360 C6 combo. Does anyone know if the speedometer drive gear on the end of the cable is different between the 2 transmissions? My speedometer doesn't work and I don't want to tear into things if it is because the gear from the C4 is wrong...
Mil1ion, I could use those vacuum diagrams. I just pulled a 360/C6 out of a 74 F100 (wrecked body) and I'm putting it into a 76 F100 that has a 302/FMX (bad motor/trans). I know this is an old post but it is what I came across while looking for the vacuum diagram.

Nice bed with trim and tail gate if your on the west coast. To bad I'm not.
Thanks Matt. What I was asking was if anyone knew if the part I listed does indeed fit the 75 as well as the 68-72 as the NAPA cross reference states and what if any reason it won't fit the 73-74 and 76-77 360/390. The part is available from NAPA and I have already ordered it. The truck is in Fl...
I ordered a Walker Y Pipe Part No 40516 from Advance Auto Parts for a 74 F100 360 2 wheel drive and it is only half of the Y and connects to the left manifold. Every place I have checked lists that same part as the Y pipe including Walkers web site. I'm not having much luck finding the other...
Vin is F10CND02956. Truck currently has a 302 w/ FMX trans. Not sure where to find the engine code, it wasn't on the door tag and there isn't a buck tag under the hood.
