Working on the 50 ford again!!

Since the upholstery is being replaced soon I started taking out the leaky heater core that was mounted in the Magic air box. Now that it is out I think it's time to clean the box up and repaint it. Also found a whole bin full of parts so I don't have to order as many things as I thought.

The box was very easy to get out and apart. I need to find the paint and time to prep it and make it look new!

Pulled the door panels and upper trim off the doors today and removed both scuff plates. Found the passenger floor needs attention but since we are doing new carpet now would be the time to fix it.

The grey painted trim needs repainted from years of wear. All needs repainted

It also needs new inner door moldings driver side broke last year. Found out that the ones with the black outline in the middle are technically for convertibles only they should have been light grey in the center.

Pulls the seat out to get a better idea of how bad the rust is and it looks like th passenger floor is shot. It's $170 for a flor pan. But it needs done

Ordering parts this week! So hopefully before Christmas I can get everything done and drive the car as long as the weather is good.

Parts have arrived!!! That was a lot quicker than I expected. I have everything except the scuff plates and the rear glass seal because they are on back order. Hope I can find the time to get back on the car!!

Did you notice the date on the heater,could it have been dealer installed and originally ordered heater delete.

That is a great question. I have no idea. The box may have replaced along the way who knows? I noticed that the front door arm rests were wrong also. And according to Dennis Carpenter parts the door moldings on the interior were wrong too. I'm going to spend some of my thanksgiving break working on the car. Hopefully the floor will be done this weekend.

I have a 55 sunliner my dad bought new that was a late build with some 56 parts but even if your 50 was a late build in august that year the heater is about a year later.

I noticed that the front fenders have 51 v8 emblems on them also. I am looking forward to staring on it tomorrow. I have my 64 studebaker gt hawk out today while the weather is nice and plus it's thanksgiving!
